Luscious consistency. The finished product looks absolutely stunning, Ruth! And love the colour of Olga - a favourite 😊. I’m with you on longer cure times. It makes such a difference in many ways yet most especially longevity of usage.

I love Aleppo Soap and I have like 200 bars that I made in December 2021. I call it the top of the line and if I need to choose one soap to use for the rest of my life is that one. I keep making it in honor of my late friend that she had chemotherapy and she was always saying how her skin got better with this soap.( Not making any medical claims here though). The laurel oil is expensive but I will try to keep making it.

Aleppo soap is wonderful. I visited Aleppo - and the rest of Syria of course - more than 20 years ago and I brought back some soaps from Aleppo. The other day I found a bar that I had not used. It is now very dark brown and I cut it in half to see the inside. The middle is a beautiful shade of bright green. The soap does not smell of anything and certainly doesn't smell rancid!

I like long cure as well. I have some I have made more than 5 years ago. They lather great and last so much longer. I'm glad you used Morouge. Ever since you have used the Juicy Pomegranate, I gave it a try and fell in love. I never used fragrances as they triggered headaches. For some reason, Morouge don't. I have only been using their fragrances and they are a great hit with my buyers. Bonus as they are Canadian. I have purchase Northern Woods, which I will be using shortly for my fall / winter line. I will have to consider Aleppo soap. My first soap ever made was 100% Olive oil and after a year of waiting for the cure. I have to say, it was the most gentle, moisturizing soap to my skin. Great video as always!

Hi Ellen. Thank you for sharing a twist on traditional Aleppo soap. The beginning of April 2023 I made my first batch of Aleppo (type) soap using the traditional recipe and 30% Laurel Berry oil. I'm going to let mine cure for 1 year. As long as I have it at the back of my curing racks, I forget about and don't get too ansy about wanting to try even a sample piece. 🤭 I should probably get another batch going soon. I appreciate you showing how to cut the cost on these but still have a wonderful end product. 😊

Long cure advocate here also. I read a great explanation long ago about the crystalline structure of soap and how the longer cure allows that to be more organized, thus making the soap milder and longer lasting. What's the rush? My customers often compliment me on how long lasting my bars are. That's good enough reason for me 🤗 If I can find the link I'll post it here for you. I am inspired, I'll go home and make this recipe later on today!

Hi Ruth, thank you for such a beautiful recipe of your variant Aleppo soap. I am inspired to make it. Since it requires a long maturing time the addition of other oils to laurel and olive, would that not affect the longevity as they have a shorter shelf life, or it would not matter.

Hi Ellen, I am new to soap making & I am definitely making this soap, but I have a few questions: 1- Which brand of Aloe Vera Juice & Silk Fibers? 2- How much Silk Fibers in this recipe? 3- How much Northern Woods fragrance from Morouge from Canada. would like to know exactly the products and amounts you used because there are too many brands to choose from, and I am nervous to buy products that could decrease the quality of the soap. Thank you for educating me, you do not know how much I appreciate your videos. Stay safe.
