Japanese traditional houses often share a common issue: a lack of natural sunlight. Insufficient sunlight can lead to feelings of depression. That's why I decided to address this problem by removing an entire room on the second floor and utilizing the existing large window to flood the entire first floor with beautiful sunlight! ☀️
Would you have made the same choice?

THE VIDEO OF THE TERMITES... IT WAS LIKE A NIGHTMARE. IT WIGGED ME OUT BIG TIME!!! I GET THE CREEPS FROM THAT! I KNOW HOW EXCITED YOU ARE IN THIS VIDEO, BUT YOUR HOME IS TOTALLY GUTTED. SINCE I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HOME RENOVATIONS AND I HAVE TO ANALYZE EVERYTHING BEFORE TOUCHING ANYTHING THIS MADE ME CRY. THERE IS NOTHING LEFT BUT BEAMS AND WOOD! IT WOULD TAKE ME 100 YEARS TO TOUCH ONE NAIL! ONE NAIL!!!! MY LORDY!!!! EVERYTHING WAS GONE!! NO KITCHEN, NO BATHROOM, NO OLD STAIRWAY, NOTHING. GONE! YIKES!!! NO HORROR TERMITES EITHER! 😂❤❤❤❤❤! PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Do you plan on dropping all the previous owners belongings to a Thriftstore/Goodwill? Do they have those there?? The two large wooden chairs are really cool! Can't wait to see the finished house...

Bra video, väldigt inspirerande projekt. Undertexterna är dock lite svåra att läsa när dom är vita och det är så ljust i huset. Prova byt till en annan färg. :)

Good idea! I was only wondering, wouldn't it been better if you first plasterboarded the walls and painted the ceiling before removing the floor 😳🤔 I'd paint the ceiling white, but that's a question of preference.

I think you should have done that for your office space or for your living space. The place where you are likely to spend most of your time.

I wonder about the math, 3.20 is first floor, second floor that you demolished is 2 meters, because you can almost touch the ceiling. I guess you are about 1.80 m or more. What does the other 2 meters come from? Just curious....😅 Otherwise you are doing a wonderful job. It takes a lot of work. Do you plan to stay in Tokyo for a long time? Your Japanse is sugoi! ;)

From personal experience it's not a good idea. First the heat will go upstairs and in the winter it's bad. Second the smell of the food will go upstairs also. But in the end it's your house 😁.

A good air circulation solution such as planning for cross ventilation will help with temperature management and a kitchen vent with the smells. The upsides of a high ceiling probably outweigh the cons. IMHO

@@sally2578 probably because the house is smaller than mine. But i wouldn't do it either way 🤣
