DIY Renovation of my Amsterdam Apartment (365 days)

A video on my progress of a full year of working on my first apartment! A year ago, I received the keys to a spacious 90m2 apartment in Amsterdam. With it being a new-build, I did everything myself, from the flooring, painting to making furniture and growing a small vegetable garden. Im super happy with how everything turned out so far (except for the skirting boards, lol).

I like this realistic approach to renovating and designing a spaace you live in, sometimes I see renos get done in like 1 week on youtube and its just not realistic for everyone to set aside enough time to get it all done so quick!! From personal experience this stuff can either get done quick and you hate the whole process or it takes a bit longer but each decision is more intentional and enjoyable

Absolutely love this! We've moved to the NL and We're thinking of buying property as well but we're so hesitant to buy something that's not fully finished, watching you skate on bare floors is so brave and it's giving me courage to try and look for something that needs some work but hold potential.

Its MIzzle, by Farrow and Ball. Not sure if I would recommend the paint of F&B though, if I could do it again I would get a color match from a generic brand instead! Good luck with the decorating! :D

@@naomicgabriel Ohh, I didn't know it's a thing when you rent something and the flooring is not done! I mean HUGE KUDOS, because we've just done this flooring to my mom's apartment with 2 guys and it was not easy!!! You slay for sure :)

@@only1dutchgirl wooow, I've heard about Germany and kitchens, but this is also insane. Fridge and washer you can move, but the floor or kitchen can't be just moved to a new flat, so what the hell happens to it?

@@esikazemese normally when you leave the rental at the end of a contract you have to remove everything that didn't came with it at the beginning.. so flooring, curtains etc. In the Netherlands rentals do have kitchens. It depends on who you rent it from. If it is social housing the kitchen will be very basic. Just the cabinets and worktop. No appliances. And no flooring. Unless the previous renter leaves it behind and you can buy it from them. But most of the time floors are bare, except for bathrooms. Those will be tiled. If you rent from a real estate office sometimes kitchens are a bit better with appliences and basic flooring. If you rent a furnished appartment like expats do, then everything will be there... but the rental price will be high.

Dankjewel! De kleur groen is Mizzle van Farrow & Ball. Ik moet zeggen dat ik hem niet echt kan aanraden. Vond de kwaliteit erg tegenvallen voor de prijs (heb uiteindelijk 3 lagen aan moeten brengen). De blauwe kleur in de slaapkamer is een Praxismerk en dekte veel beter (2 lagen).
