do you know if this seaglass spray is heat resistant? can i use it on the inside of a glass lamp?
@Saltwash-paint-additive
@Saltwash-paint-additive 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Greekfula, great question. The Saltwash in the seaglass spray is heat resistant. We can not speak for the paint that is mixed in as we don't know what type is being used. But that said, In my opinion, I think most clay or mineral based paints would hold up to the heat just fine.

What do you mix water with paint and the salt water stuff
@Saltwash-paint-additive
@Saltwash-paint-additive 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you will mix in water a bit of paint in your choice of sea glass color ( meaning the color you would like your glass bottle to be, here it is a coke bottle look) and then Saltwash®. Quick recipe we use to get these results is: 6-8 oz water . add about 3-4 oz of Saltwash to water. add paint of your choice, about 1/2 - 1 oz. Mix well and continue to move the Saltwash water paint solution in the bottle or else it clogs. If you find it clogs the sprayer, simply run the straw under warm water. People also paint on the solution using light brush strokes. Thank you!

Is it waterproof? Could I color jars I’ll drink out of?
@Saltwash-paint-additive
@Saltwash-paint-additive 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kelyia, so sorry we did not see this reply, don't know how it got overlooked but many apologies; can we blame covid, or kids at home, or just our absent mindedness at times :))) all of these above ugh;)), but let us help with your questions; to start it is only waterproof once you spray the last step using the spray enamel clear coat, then it will have great longevity to the sea glass effect on the project you did. As far as safety wise for drinking glasses, I would only suggest it if you were careful with extra steps such as making sure to leave the rim where your mouth would touch clear without any seaglass around that area,(painters tape would help that), you would also want to be sure not to get any inside the glass or any spray enamel inside the glass . With all this being said, I personally have created this effect on wine glasses, I stopped using tape midway up the glass so the top area where our mouths would be woulndt get product on it, I sealed it as well as suggested and once it all dried I removed the painters tape, and hand washed the glasses. They have held up well and are fun little glasses to use everynow and then, but again this was a personal trial project that I don't mention because there are a lot of extra steps you will want to pay attention to but it was fun and turned out neat! Hope these help and if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask and you can also email further at info@ilovesaltwash.com Thanks again and have a great day!

How would this go on glazed ceramic pots? And does it wash/chip/rub off glazed surfaces?
@Saltwash-paint-additive
@Saltwash-paint-additive 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jennifer, I've never painted glazed ceramic pots with the SeaGlass technique, but I think it would be very similar to painting glass. To help with chipping and rubbing off the finish, you just need to let the seaglass dry completely and then seal it with a protective clear enamel sealer. Just the cheap kind you get at the hardware store in a spray can will work great.

@Saltwash-paint-additive 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mariem, thanks for the kind words! Saltwash is a powder that can be added to any color or type of paint to create many different faux effects. In this video we showed how to use Saltwash to create a Seaglass effect, but you can use Saltwash and paint to create many other effects such as rust, cement, textured distressed wood, and lots more. About how long should you wait between coats?
@Saltwash-paint-additive
@Saltwash-paint-additive 2 жыл бұрын
Hi amah91, dry time varies depending on paint used and humidity, but usually we just wait somewhere in the range of 30-40 minutes, but we have done a second coat in a short as 10 minutes. My best advice is to wait and just gently touch an area with your finger, don't rub it, just lightly tap it and if no paint comes off on your finger then you are ready for a second coat. Thanks! Lovely craft and colors. If I desire Bright colors such as yellow to offset the coastal hues green & blues to give it a pop color with the wine glass that I have where would I find the various colors besides the blue and the green which I love thank you so much!
@Saltwash-paint-additive
@Saltwash-paint-additive 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Unique Investor Concepts, great question! So Saltwash powder only comes in one color, it is designed to be mixed with the paint color of your choice. It is the paint that you add to Saltwash that gives it color. Saltwash works with any paint, so for this video to create the coastal hues of green and blues, we used an aqua color acrylic paint from our local craft store. To create a yellow sea glass effect, you would just use any yellow color paint of your choice instead of the aqua color we used in the video. I think yellow sea glass would look great!

@Saltwash-paint-additive
@Saltwash-paint-additive 3 жыл бұрын
Hi and apologies for not replying sooner; for some reason we were not getting notified of the comments/questions, I believe we have it fixed now;), We recommend spraying, ( it seems to keep the finish lighter and a bit more even), however we have had artists who have had luck in applying it with a chip brush. If your familiar with Wise Owl paint, that is how they use it when working with Saltwash and their paint to achieve the Sea glass finish. We feel so bad with being so late in replying so we would love to offer you a discount on your next Saltwash purchase , if you'd be interested, just send us a quick email with your name and reference to the youtube Saltwash comment and we can trace you back to our conversation and get you set up!

Can you work it to be transparent?
@Saltwash-paint-additive
@Saltwash-paint-additive 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Henry, and apologies for not replying sooner; for some reason we were not getting notified of the comments/questions, I believe we have it fixed now;),; You can make this semi transparent, it will always have a bit of the hazey worn glass look, however if you don't add as much paint to your mixture of "saltwash, paint, water" mix you will find that you can create a much lighter sea glass finish. Hope this helps and would love to see any projects you may have. We feel so bad with being so late in replying so we would love to offer you a discount on your next Saltwash purchase , if you'd be interested just send us a quick email with your name and reference to the youtube Saltwash comment and we can trace you back to our conversation and get you set up!

I did this and it did not come out good at all. I had to do about 5 coats just to even look like sea glass and if your not careful it rubs right off.
@Saltwash-paint-additive
@Saltwash-paint-additive 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, so sorry we had not seen this reply, don't know how we missed it but many apologies. There may be an easy fix for that outcome, it may be that there was more water and not enough Saltwash and paint to the water. Next time can we suggest to try a little more Saltwash and possibly a little more paint to the mixture. That slight tweak we are sure will help to deepen the color you are wanting to achieve. Then yes, as you said it may rub off, so be sure to take that extra step we mention about coating it once it is dry with a matte enamel spray. It will seal the look for longevity of the sea glass effect! We hope this helps some and please let us know if you have any more questions. If you are low on Saltwash to try your next project out using these suggestions, then send us a quick email info@ilovesaltwash.com and let us know and we will get you a can out with a coupon code to get you a discount and help get you back on track with your next project! Thanks again and have a great day!
