This was the first Do It, Gurl video that I ever watched in 2013. I was obsessed for a few years after, but haven’t been back in so long. Now I actually have textbooks I could cut.

It is not a waste of a book, if you leave the title alone. I have hundreds of books, and did this project years ago without touching the outside covers at all. In it I placed all of my expensive jewelry, then placed it back on the bookshelf. I have been robbed twice, but my really valuable stuff remained safe. Use a larger book for your valuable documents, shares, bonds etc, as robbers know the hiding places for safes, and simply work them out.

Guys, just use a book that's already missing pages or has a little water damage so you won't feel bad about cutting it up.
@sararhees23099 жыл бұрын
Jamie I did this one at home and it was so much fun to do. I cut my finger in the process but it felt so good when it was all done and complete, I had decided to use one of my moms old dictionaries. Thank u for the inspiration

I love this but can't do it. Seeing the book being cut up alone makes me want to flinch. But doing it myself would have me crying in a ball on the floor. XD

Me as well. Why destroy a book for jewelry? They sell boxes that look like books at the craft store.

Totally fine! I'm a collage artist so I cut up vintage time-life and national geographic books, literally, everyday. The photos are too perfect. Cut that sh*t up! (Plus, I NEVER returned....any textbooks..so...) I'll have plenty of boxes to make! :)

You can also make one out of hard back journals that don't have any writing in it if it makes you feel better about not ruining a book.
@esp194612 жыл бұрын
Definitely! You can use all-purpose glue or even mix water with regular glue so that it will be lighter/smoother... have fun crafting!!

Sure, you can use a paper cover book -- the idea though is that the hardcover acts as the base/lid of the box. So you might have a flimsier lid/base.
