What do you do to keep the system going? Once you harvest eating worms from the bottom do you dump out the old Beatles from the top and put the remaining worms to breed the next generation into the top? Also any tips on harvesting?

So are you keeping beetles on top of the screen? Then tiny meal worms go to the bottom? When they become pupae do you pick them out by hand?
@ChiefSweetsUniverse Жыл бұрын
Exactly how I do it. So eventually the mealworms who slipped through the bottom will pupae I just lift up the top bin pick those out and bam.

Do the beetles in top portion eventually die out until none are left?

Thank you. Very helpful. I was wondering.....do you use a lit on top? Does it have holes in it too?
@ChiefSweetsUniverse Жыл бұрын
Tbh I don’t use a lid top only if I start stacking the enclosures then I use one and make sure the one that’s getting the lid has tons of air holes or else it will mold. But yeah these guys can’t climb out so I don’t use a lid

Great video! Just to clarify, you put food in both layers? So the bottom container and the top container with mesh?
@ChiefSweetsUniverse9 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes on top and in the bottom

I read worms turned into beetles faster if they're not fed, (odd I know) also won't the new mealworms below start to eat the pupa and eggs? Do you need a third or fourth section for when they turn pupa and then worms? @@ChiefSweetsUniverse

I can't seem to get my screen tight enough to keep from sagging in the middle. Any advice? I used a piece of an old window screen.
@ChiefSweetsUniverse9 ай бұрын
Yeah mine sags a little as well. Just try and get it tight as possible.
@GamingRealmOfTheGods5 ай бұрын
Sags due to the weight of the mesh pulling down on it. This is due to us cutting off the bottom so the center squeezes in some to allow the slack on the mesh. others made a wood frame and screwed it to the bottom of the container before putting on mesh.

What do you feed mealworms?
@ChiefSweetsUniverse Жыл бұрын
Carrots
@analyticalhabitrails98577 ай бұрын
Another example: potatoes, apples. Vegetables that contain moist. That's how they hydrate.

Thank you very much Chief for your help. I been having this pet mouse I got for a month now. I have been thinking of how I'm gonna build a easy DIY mealworms farm ben. Until I saw your video. Tome to go order some mealworms from uncle Jim. 🫡
