DIY servo tester (using 555)

My servo tester seems to have died, so I'm going to see if I can replace it with a good 'ol 555.
Yet another use for one of our favourite chips.

It's probably not the best way to do it.

Back in the day we called that kind of thing "quick and dirty" which it is, but it's also pretty damn slick. Gets the job done with no fancy BS and leaves room for improvement or application to something else if needed.

Sometimes it's easy to jump in and use a microcontroller for everything, but this shows a nice quick and dirty way of doing it using off the shelf electronics rather than programming, which makes a pleasant change.

The 555 provides a PWM signal, but the Micro can do more.... for example the "auto mode".

Woah, that's some multi-level synchronicity going on. I literally just opened one of those up on my workbench, but the noise outside forced me to take a break and watch some youtube. I ordered it a while back thinking it's be a cheap temporary tool until I could design something more advanced, but you're making me think I should have designed my own from the start.

I made a solder fume filter using a fiberglass 2-gang box an 80mm PC fan a charge and boost circuit with a 20"x25" carbon furnace filter with a Li-Ion battery.

Just throw all the components way and use a ATtiny85 as you say at the end. Less components and better control. Good video to get the brain cells working.
