This looks wonderful. I do have a good shampoo bar recipe - but just yesterday started experimenting with some finer textured bars - going to try this one today. Thank you for your wealth of ingredient knowledge and for sharing so fully, I have learnt heaps! Today I learnt, from one of your previous videos, what causes the wrinkles on top of conditioner bars - it was a real “aha” moment! Lizzie 😊

Can panthenol be added to this recipe without affecting the outcome? If so how much would I use?
@indigoshea74462 жыл бұрын
You can experiment with adding 1-2% to the powder phase, and remove that quantity from the Kaolin Clay. That's what I would do.

Please I can not find Polyquaternium7 in my country, can I use DPantenol instead? I have looked in to your encyclopedia but it only gives me the alternative of polyquaternium 10, so I thought about the DPantenol which here c9mes in a viscous liquid, it’s hidrosoluble and it brings conditioning effect to the products, or should I just skip the polyquaternium 7 thanks.
@HumblebeeAndMe2 жыл бұрын
Kind of? As in yes, you can use it instead, but it really isn't a substitute. Sort of like using peaches instead of apples in a pie-it'll work, but it'll be different :) Happy making!

Thanks for your generous information ☺️, I have a question , I made a shampoo bar using sci and slsa Shea butter, and cocoa butter avocado oil ... I have got a dry frizzy hair, once I wash with that shampoo bar my hair feels waxy and hard to comb, that's due to what? Shampoo bar pH is 5

Hi, I have noticed a few people heat their recipes, is this because it makes it easier to mold them, or is there another reason? Your recipes seems so much easier
@HumblebeeAndMe2 ай бұрын
It's really just a different way of doing things. I'm not a fan of heating everything together as the resulting paste is quite sticky (which I personally do not find easier to mould) and the final bars don't stay anywhere near as hard. The 'melt & mash' bars I've made in the past got sticky and soft throughout their lives, whilst this style of shampoo bar gets rock hard really fast and stays that way :) You will still need to introduce some heat if you want to include a butter (example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5KQlXivpcaSppY), but you'll just heat that ingredient, not the whole formula. Hope that helps, and happy making!

Marie please help!! I bought cera Bellina after going through many of your wonderful recipes. Every time I use cera bellina, without a doubt, it becomes grainy/filled with crystal beads. Bills Lav Salve recipe of yours is an example where I used it. I follow the “trace” methods in the ice bath. I don’t know what to do 😭 I’ve made 4 different cera Bellini based recipes and they all come out beady. Do I need to use an immersion blender? What gives?

Can you help me with something. I made solid conditioner for the first time with BTMS and Cetil alchol as the main hardeners, Its feeling waxy on my hands when I am in the shower, it leaves a waxy residue I am wondering what I added too much of to make it that way. My recipe ratios BTMS 225: 40% , Mango butter 20% , Cetil alcohol 13%, Cocoa butter 13% , Neem oil 10%, Rice bran oil 4% .

As this is a free formulation, I hope you can appreciate that I did not seek out people with all different hair types (which could easily be upwards of 20!) to test this formulation. That said, I do not think there is any broad hair type that it definitely wouldn't work for, and those who have made it have reported good results :)

Fun! I had the "Last Dinner On the Titanic" cookbook for years-it was an interesting read, but the ingredients for all the first class dishes were insane 😂 If I'm remembering correctly it was things like the spine of a sturgeon (😳). The third class recipes were more accessible-biscuits and stews and the like. I don't think I ever ended up cooking anything from it, but it was really interesting!
