DIY Smart WiFi Controlled LED Lamp || ESP8266 & WLED

This LED smart lamp is a quick DIY light project (smart light) that you can use as a wakeup light, night light or just to add some ambiance to your office. Only a few cheap components and some 3D prints are needed to create this nice looking ambient lamp. No programming is needed, only the WLED firmware is uploaded to a micro controller via a simple tool. This light was created by using 3D printing.
WLED is open source and provides many IoT interfaced including a web front end and an app that allows to control all the lamps in the local WIFI and Alexa control.

Where do you get you LED strips?

We like to buy our strips from here: www.btf-lighting.com. They have the best prices but shipping can take some time. They also have an amazon store but prices are a little higher. We like these www.btf-lighting.com/collections/pixels-led-strip-1/products/1-sk6812-rgbw-4-in-1-pixels-individual-addressable-led-strip-dc5v because they have a dedicated white channel + rgb.

Wanted to know if you had a video or know anyone who has a video for setting up the hardware for esp32 with 24 volt addressable LEDs. Also where did you get those the pins to set up the LED wire to plug directly into a pin? Thank you for all the effort. Your video for setting up wled is what brought me here. Keep up the awesome work.

Hi Haywould Ugetmeadrink, to get the pins setup to plug into the LED wire i used a crimping tool kit similar to what is seen here : www.amazon.com/Glarks-Crimper-Connector-Crimping-AWG28-18/dp/B07VQ6YNSC/ref=sr_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=crimper+tool+kit&qid=1613400957&sr=8-17 As for the 24 volt LEDs using with an esp32 board I do not have any personal experience with these, but a good resource you could use would be Dr Zzs Facebook group. He has a bunch of hardcore LED light enthusiasts that should be able to help you out. facebook.com/groups/1969622823351838/ I might look into making a video on this in the future if people are interested?

Obviously the DIY part of this is fun but why would you do this instead of using an LED strip like the Govee brand? Those are Alexa enabled and have an app to do cool settings. Seems like it would cost the same?

The fun part was definitely a big driving factor, but I chose to go with a NodeMcu so I could integrate it into Home Assistant and take advantage of Node Red to try and do some cool automations.
