Thanks, Kay! I really appreciate the no-nonse approach you took in sharing this excellent information with everybody. I am a cheap man, and just got into modeling/diorama making, and love DIY projects, so I can't wait to try this!

This is an amazing design I would have never thought of no matter how many times I walked by those rackets. You said you don't have a heat gun but do you have a goodwill nearby with blow dryers as temporary? I'm going to heat and bend the racket all the way around the cup instead of cutting it off. I'll let you know if I burned the house down

That’s an awesome idea! It’ll look great if it works well. I have a hair dryer, but I think I’m too impatient for that to work. If I have another project that could use a heat gun, I’ll probably pick one up from Harbor Freight. I didn’t even think about it being useful for this project.

AWESOME ! Does this work with regular flocking or do you need to use static grass and if so what grass do you use?
@okayminiatures75732 жыл бұрын
I have only tried it with static grass, but I’m not 100% sure what you mean by regular flocking. I’m still learning the finer distinctions in the hobby. Based on a quick search, it seems like people mean different things by flock… Anyway, if it is somewhat long strands of material and you want it to stand up, I think it’d work. I used the static grass available at my local hobby shop (I think it’s Woodland Scenics). So far, I’ve found that it works pretty well for 4mm grass, and okay for 7mm (the grass doesn’t stand up super well).

@@okayminiatures7573 I will have to check my local Hobby lobby and see what type of grass I but and get back to you.It is the really small pieces variety.I dont know that it ould stand up but if so this would be great although I like the stuff you use better.Maybe I'll shop around online for better grass. Thanks and have a great weekend.

For soldering, buy a container of flux. (Liquid or paste - just not the flux for plumbing soldering) It will make soldering a lot easier.
