Emory Jenkins i have only 2 own a closed box book shelf, Advent baby II and KEF rdm 1, but then i didn't have the proper room and my knowledge about speaker placement was to be added years later. I do remember how the bass sounded, like a more cleaner tone without the *wind* . Sadly vented box are outselling closed ones. The Brits are making more and more vented ones.....

I hate closed box, sound like on phone and hard af. Calm and deep BR is much better

Confident about no air leaks with that finish? would've been epic if the sub was recessed, did you think of that after you did the cutout? still possible with a rabbiting bit, but would've been easier with the baffle still intact still epic

Is this more like boom boom box, or is it just as good as subs for HI-Fi music? I am looking for a DIY gentle sub, which goes ver low (less then 30) but does not disturb the soundstage combined with the other speakers i have.

@Omi1426 жыл бұрын
Doublsmm it sounds good anyways 👌 for something new again you should build a subwoofer box with passive radiator.
@PA5cAl16 жыл бұрын
Nope, they have a large group delay and lots of other nasty problems
@fuse26706 жыл бұрын
PA5cAl1 Yeah thats true. I never really liked passive radiators. They dont improve the sound at all

You can countersink the screws and then use some wood filler to fill the tops and smooth off when set. Once covered or painted you'll never be any the wiser.
@TechnikToni-Overtribe6 жыл бұрын
he did that on the ultimax 10 and the video shows it is not that great
@RodneyD Жыл бұрын
Where did you get the subwoofer??
@RuiSilvaPT6 жыл бұрын
Nice build! However, just a heads up that the back amp plate should not be in direct contact with the moving air mass. It should be sealed. If you build a bigger sealed sub with a 15" speaker with a 400/800W (RMS) plate amp, you will hear the rattling of the plate and its components as well as air passing on the lower freqs.
@ompalumpa59106 жыл бұрын
distortion from the mic or the sub ? and what gives the best bass hf or ho or ultimax 8

Im looking for a ported musical sub and i listend to elecro rap pop drumstep and all around punchy and consistant bass
@fuse26706 жыл бұрын
ompalumpa I would not go for a ported enclosure, as a HF 8 in a sealed Box will already play pretty low. F3 is around 37 Hertz. IMO thats enough for most music.

nice video. it should sound tight, because of the closed design. why didnt u used stuffing on the inside? btw i prefer large ported designs. its more efficient in the low end. i also builded my home theatre subwoofer. i used a sundown audio woofer (normally used in cars) for it :) keep up the good work

How about do a video of Dayton audio ultimax 10 vs Dayton audio RSS210HO-4
@Chase12976 жыл бұрын
I've heard much better things about the ultimax line in almost every way. You gain a little up high in with the reference but lose much more down low
@fuse26706 жыл бұрын
Chase Meyermann It depends. The HO 18 is for example more powerful than the Ultimax 18, when looking at spl. The Ultimax line only really work in sealed or really low tuned ported enclosures. The HO models on the other hand can also be tuned higher (like 30-35 Hertz), but they will not play as low as an Ultimax in a sealed enclosure.
@AlexLipo6 жыл бұрын

Why don't you use Engine paint, sets really hard and don't chip so easy, then clear coating after and letting cure for 24hrs sets in another layer of protection for the nice paint job, and a deep shine.
