Great video. Very informative. I have my materials and now I just have to make the time to sit down and do it. New subscriber

Very good video. Very good exclamation. Very good project. I’ve done similar myself but to customize sleeping bags and blankets quilts from Walmart. I was looking forward to a video like this since I want to do one from scratch that would have all the specifics I want a quote. Thank you so much for this video. I liked it so much I just subscribed to your channel and gave you a like. God bless you

What's the most difficult hike you've completed?

In my earlier message, I forgot to ask, how much would you charge me to make me one with my specifics. Basically the same yet you have shown but for lower temperature?

Oh I’m way too out of practice now but there’s some great companies out there to make custom quilts for a reasonable price. Check this out for some retailers sectionhiker.com/sectionhiker-gear-guide/10-best-ultralight-backpacking-quilts/

Do you think it’s possible to make a 0-degree synthetic quilt with the method you used? The lowest temp/lightest synthetic quilt I can find is made by EE but only goes to 20-degrees. I’m looking for something synthetic and warmer without carrying 3+ pounds. Any insight you have would be great. Thanks!

I'm not sure. I assume if EE doesn't make on for that rating, there must be a good reason. I would imagine it has to do with weight and lack of compressibility, once you add so much insulation

Thank you for sharing! Very nice quilt. What was the lowest T you've used this quilt? I'm trying to figure out how much material I need to make a synthetic quilt for 20 F. Thank you!

Thank you! The lowest temperature was around 50*. I also wear a mid weight base layer while sleeping. The thickness of the sheet of insulation determines the temperature rating. For a 20* probably around 3 inches of PrimaLoft.

Hey there, I know its a year later, but in case you were still looking, or if anyone else is trying to find the same answer, I was eventually able to find this support.enlightenedequipment.com/hc/en-us/articles/225766407-Insulation-and-loft Talks about the type of APEX a major company uses for each temp from 50 to 20 degrees. The only thing I'm not sure of is if a bag/quilt insulated down to 20-30 degrees would be comfortable enough during warmer months, because I myself am trying to make one bag that will work for all seasons I may camp in... also APEX is super on sale right now at ripstop by the roll, as much as half off! Just thought I'd leave this here in case anyone needs this resource or maybe could answer my question 😅

Hello nice video :D i am going to sew my second quilt today. Can you tell me how tall you are? So i can assess the dimensions you used. Best regards from Germany :*
@dinenmolf69073 жыл бұрын
btw. my first quilt was way too small. so i extended it a few times. but thats bad for the insulations and its not that symmetric anymore. So some areas are cold sometimes. especially if the wind is coming under the quilt^^
@EricHeber3 жыл бұрын
@@dinenmolf6907 I'm 5 ft 6 inches so the dimensions I used will be fairly small for average people 😂
