@bullzdawguk5 жыл бұрын
Clearly, you love Bruno and know the best way to keep a Rotties' mind active and disciplined. Rotties are one of the most misunderstood breeds and many people see a false image the media has fed them in TV and films. When I got my first Rottie Bullit, I was still brainwashed and saw a potentially vicious dog. It didn't take me long to change that false image and see the Rottie for what it is. Rotties are true clowns and appear to have a sense of humour. At least the two I have had so far have been clowns. They're highly intelligent, with a natural ability to assess a situation quite accurately. Treat them right and build a relationship based on mutual trust and respect and they're fiercely loyal. In fact, you get a strong sense that your Rottie would be ready and willing to give its' life in order to save yours. Apparently, a house with a Rottie rarely, if ever, gets burgled. They're aware of just how effective a guard dog and how deadly they are. My first Rottie Bullit was a pure breed, with full papers, impressive family history with many prize winners in his line. In fact, he was meant to be a show dog but had a slightly gimpy toe on one foot. He was huge and a gentle giant. The only Rottie my vet said she has ever trusted 100%. His coat glowed and I'm not biased when I say how handsome he was because people would comment all the time at how handsome a Rottie he was. Losing him cut deep. He was special and I'll miss him until we're reunited on the day I leave this realm. My second Rottie Zeus was 2 years old when we got him. Our vet called us one day, about a year after we lost Bullit and asked if we would be interested in adopting him. Zeus had been in two homes with people who either misunderstood Rotties or abused him. Bullit was noble. Zeus is a peasant. He's the complete opposite of Bullit. Actually, if you ever saw the film Marley, I refer to Zeus as my Marley. It wasn't easy and he's a handful, but we calmed him down. I love him, even though he drives me crazy. But, I look at it this way, thanks to Bullit Zeus is alive. Bullit took my natural fear of Rotties away. He prepared me for Zeus. It makes Bullit's life seem all the more worthwhile. Anyway, I wanted to give you a sense of who I was and how I love Rotties as much as you. I've done this for a reason. I'm in the UK and they have banned tail docking here. At first, I thought it was a stupid idea, especially since the image in my head of a Rottie was the stubby tail. Bullit was docked and he looked impressive. Zeus, on the other hand, isn't docked. Now that I've lived with both, I eventually realised that the tail docking doesn't suit the dog if it's mainly to satisfy an owners vanity. And, with all due respect, that is exactly what it is. Vanity. Think about it. A dog's tail is a main form of communication when interacting with other dogs. Take away their tail and it's almost like muting them. Did you know? A Rottie is more likely to get into a fight with another unfamiliar dog because of a docked tail? By docking the tail, it helps generate the false image of a Rottie if they fight simply because they can't communicate properly with other dogs. As I said, I love Rotties and want to help promote a positive image for the breed. Ultimately, I'm not helping that image if I dock their tail simply to suit my vanity. It's clear you love the breed as much as I do. I encourage you to go to the breeder you got Bruno from and try to make them see the light as I have. At the end of the day; what matters the most is the dog's well-being, not my vanity. I wish you all the best. I hope my words haven't offended, it was not their intention. It should be obvious where my true intentions lie. Peace.

...here in BC on Vancouver Island some places encourage it...most Home Depot & Canadian Tire & def the pet stores...ust has to be respected by all dog owners...our local Home Depot stopped allowing it cus one inconsiderate owner let the dog poop in the aisle & then just left it!!😣😲...spoiled things for everyone!😝

louise wallace That will never happen here. However we can take our dogs on Calgary Transit. Anytime I took my Rotti on the bus certain people got up and moved to the back. lol Lucy was a very big girl. 106 lbs. and buff! Her paws were almost as big as my hands. Gee I miss her. How much does Bruno weigh now? Do you buy him soup bones and let him liked out the marrow? Dogs love doing that.

I made one too after watching this. It was a waste of time. My 70pd golden doodle had the PVC bent over after one good tug, the pipe did not recover. I then cut that section off and tried again this time with a 2ft rebar piece inside. That was bent over as well in about 10 minutes. I guess that's why the real-deal cost so much. It has some sort of spring-like materail at the base. The dog loved it while it lasted, back to the drawing board
@Brian_Leca2 жыл бұрын
@@sajasafosajasafo8207 no spring. First you need to know how to build something that will last. Search it out. It is about material. The in ground pipe, drill a hole thru both sides and thru the teether. Bolt it in. Put that pipe 1.5 - 2 feet in the ground. Depends on size of dog. Good luck. Building mine today and from salvaged material. I'll stop at Lowe's tomorrow and see what they have for teether. Otherwise I have something. Doberman 7.5 months female red.

Haha at least I know what not to do. That was hilarious. Have you ever built anything... 🤣🤣🤣 How long did it take for him to break it? I just finished building an agility course. Chase toy, 3 hurdles and will be welding the teeter-totter this weekend. All salvage metal over the years. Metal welding and wood working background and build manly strong and lasting. All started growing up on a dairy farm. Welded massive crains and all those windmills you see everywhere. And at least you tried. Thicker rope, shorten it up a bit, and cut down whatever you used as the long shaft.

Let us know how long it lasted. I don't think it will survive long. He was such a good dog in Lowe's! Also, Flexi leads should be discontinued. The dog is harder to control, humans get tangled in them, and both can be seriously injured by both the cord and the "tape" versions. We only use ours for walks on our own property or when traveling to give them more reach to do their business. Otherwise, it's a regular lead everywhere. My rottie uses a 6' lead with a 2nd handle 12" from clip.
