I know some folks prefer my non-talking, timelapse style videos, so I hope you enjoy my DIY Truck Camper project. This is my last two videos smushed into a shorter one, so no worries if you’ve seen them already, I appreciate you stopping by and feel free to say hi in the comments! - Rob

This is really inspiring! Would love to make something similar but just wondering if it would be alright for some challenging offroad trails?

I don't have the truck, the tools, the computer and probably the skills. Yet, I am glad to see what this man has accomplished. I am great to watch this unfold into a marvelous creation of comfort & style.

Dude! Outstanding video to be inspired again! I began watching your videos first with the Y-400 Laser build and was hooked. I was in the middle of building my Y-1200 Laser when I lost my job due to downsizing and then had to giveup my house to forclosure. That was 4 years ago and I've just gotten over the grief and started making things in my now small 2 bedroom apartment. This morning I was going thru my DIY files and came accross the plans for the y-1200 and decided to pickup where I left off. I can't tell you how thankful and happy I am for your videos. God's blessings and all the universal favors to you and your family!

Maybe add an extending awning over the tailgate/stove pull out (with legs) for rainy weather, and even drop down sides to the ground for wind protection.

Absolutely! I've been looking at those wraparound 270 ones as they seem pretty easy to setup

You plan, calculate, measure, design, build... You even do the sewing work yourself. No effort you put into your projects seem little or less important this way and I like not only the results I see but also this whole mentality. I always get super excited when I get a notification from your channel because your work never fails to amaze and inspire me about my mentality. I even gathered my friends and watched another video over lunch 😅 You truly are something rare in my opinion. So thank you so so much for sharing with us Rob. Lots of love and support from Istanbul ✋🏻

Nice build. Whats you thoughts on adding some clips to the fabric that can clip on to poles like many tents use. If you added two small poles like ones that hold up your engine hood to the rear of the tent that when it is raised then you could clip the side of the tent to it and reduce the flapping in the winds. Might be able to do this to the gas struts on each side so you don't have to add another pole. Should make your fabric more ridged and hopefully reduce the chances of the tent walls being contacted. Should be minimual weight added for more comfort.
@FurtherFabrication7 ай бұрын
Thanks! that would totally work. I've got a bungee cord around the middle of the tent which does a pretty good job at keeping the fabric tight and helps tuck it in when closing the roof, that seems to be working fine for now but it's always great hearing other ideas!

How is it effect the fuel cost? I mean there is huge chunk of aerodynamic block on top of the car, also drags the air.

Looks awesome, would love to do this someday! Why did you do a truck camper when you already converted a van? Can't wait to see what you do next! Edit: may be obvious but are the rubber seals for waterproofing?
@FurtherFabrication7 ай бұрын
Thanks mate! curiosity mostly, the van was awesome when you're all parked up at a good campsite but I didn't really enjoy driving it that much and had to be careful not get too off-roady with it, the truck camper's more the other end of the spectrum - super nice to drive and can get into more places, but less luxury

So how does it hold up to bad weather? Both on the road and camping?
@FurtherFabrication7 ай бұрын
Honestly, better than I thought it would haha, it's been through every weather condition over the last couple of months (we don't really get snow here) and everything's stayed dry and not fallen off, which is all I really ask for. I had intended to seam seal the stitches on the tent (I still will) but so far I've had several rainy nights and no issues with water seeping through

How much would it cost without all that fancy stuff just need the shell it self with the bed
@147andreluizАй бұрын
The Alucab Pop top alone (installed and certified) in NZ cost almost 20k nzd. This build on the video, considering is the whole canopy I would guess no less than that.
