In this "CASE" the one transistor shorted to heat sink is OK. Needs no insulator because here are no other components making contact to it. BUT>>>>>The amp's design is just plain awful

This is really cool, but i cant recommend Your circuit is based on a class A amp, nothing wrong with that, the problem is you reproduced only half of circuit. You need a capacitor for a DC decoupling to protect the speaker from DC. In your design, it only work because the speaker itself is directly connected to DC from the transistor, it will burn if on for a few minutes. To solve that, put a capacitor between your speaker and amplifier, and a "really big *resistor* " discharging the capacitor to ground That is the principle of class A

Shirley you jest! If you send AC signal, then all you would have is a hum. Audio signal is DC that is working off the highs and lows of the vibrating signal.

@@rafdavfl Speakers work with both ac and dc but ac is the more common way. Dc is only if you need better low end if you are a sound engineer or something. Sorry my english isn't the best possible but you get the point :)

He uses speakers that require a lot of power, no way it comes close to their RMS however I do agree that the mic definitely saturates it. Unfortunately the only way we would know how it actually sounds is to be there. It was very educational and I do think there's a couple thinks he could do to make it better. For instance, the DC. You guys need to calm down though with the distortion claims, and give him credit for what he did do. He used otherwise worthless materials and made something cool out of it. I for example could make this as a project, a lot of us have most of these parts around (I have old power supplys everywhere) so for a cheap project I can make something cool. Another thing is he's not using a very efficient speaker, I'm sure it would sound a lot different with a smaller speaker that needs less power.

For a class A amplifier like this, I don't see any need for the Low-Pass filter at all. Thus, anything would work. It would make sense if this were a switch mode. but this isn't.

For a simple class A amplifier like this, I don't see a need for the inductor or the 1uF capacitor. I remember building amplifiers like this when I was young.

Saludos a todos,la idea es buena por lo fácil y rápido de armado,si da poca potencia o falta de fidelidad sería normal,por los pocos componentes,estos transistores el 2n3055 y el Buy 69 también los ocupe como reguladores de 100-120 voltios en las Tvs de blanco y negro,también los usaba el amplificador Radson modelo 1000 si más no recuerdo,muy bueno la idea es algo diferente y fácil

резистор лучше поставить подстроечный тогда при стабилизированном питании можно выставить ток покоя (среднюю точку линейной характеристики) которая правда при прогреве транзистора будет немного уплывать. Если последовательно с резистором поставить терморезистор наклееный на радиатор будет вам счастье в жизни.

It's a short cut method audio amp, good only for am radios only not for music, but if it's just for fun project it's ok just lower the volume..

Ok folks... Max output of his power supply is only 2A. So even with a generous efficiency (70%) he will get a MAX output of 14watts... so yes there will be distortion powering an 80 watt speaker from a 6-7 watt amplifier.

using a WII power supply will upgrade his output to about 12A giving him about 60-70 clean watts. I could not find the data on how many watts the transistor is capable of. Perhaps about 100 watts @ 50 degrees Celsius?

Si copie el video no me guie por el diagrama... Al final el capacitor de ceramico creo que es esta mal en el grafico lo puse en marcha y de 10... Me sirvio ya que no tengo efectivo oara otro equipo, ya que se quemo el que compre 😑

The Cap isn't correctly fit. The base of the 2N3055 must be positive polarized. In fact it comes from it's collector and what we see is the positive to the input. In "normal" installations, the cap will be damaged. Only if you got an installation driven with bridge power, which uses + 6Volts DC as average tension, this circuit works well
