My dad just passed away quite unexpectedly and I was wanting to remake some of his clothes into something I could wear. Your sewing has been very inspirational.

I often found a jersey in my favourite colour but I simply hate the shape of it and I would leave the shop empty hands and disappointed , mainly because the trendy shape these days tends to be " square" .Don't know how those so called designers believe that wearing shapeless clothing is fashionable . So I am more than grateful when I would find a tutorial as yours ,where dull boring shapeless jumpers can be wear it and to look good in it . Thank you , thank you , thank you !!! As always easy to follow instructions , realistic results , great video editing . I wish you a fabulous and prosperous new year and many thanks for everything you posted in the year that just passed , I have learned a lot . 💐

If you cut up sweaters train with secondhand ugly sweaters. And try to get the best possible match for the colour of the thread. Some seams that you secure with a zigzag from fraying will be visible and it looks so much better. The other tip is that you clean up the edges while you still have a lot of extra fabric. It is better regarding tension of the fabric. If you cut it and then secure the edges (so they will not fray) you have fabric on one side and nothing on the other. Of course you then have to cut off the extra fabric (sharp scissors are your friend). There are foils that will dissolve in water (they are meant for machine embroidery because they stabilize the underground on which you embroider). If you put a strip under where you want to sew stretchy fabric (especially knits) that can help as well. She has likely a very good machine. Yours might not be as excellent and that shows in how stretchy fabrics are handled. so making them less stretchy helps.

@@franziskaniI don't have an overlocker, is she just doing the adjustments with a zig zag? It's a really pretty make, but all tha "ta da" moments where she magically does a seam off camera is pretty frustrating 😢

I’d be a bit scared to cut into a knitted garment! I’ve just re fashioned a hideous, cheap puff sleeved dress with an unflattering waist tie into a sleeveless one with a shrug. But I’m not skilful enough to do something like this. It’s lovely. 🥰

Maybe you could find a really cheap sweater at a thrift store to practice on. If it comes out looking nice, yay for you! If not, you probably will have learned something and will feel more comfortable next time.

Klasse! Aber sind die Nähte auch elastisch? Das sieht nach einem normalen Gradstich aus. Beautiful! But are the seams also elastic? This looks like a normal straight stitch.
