Or you can just buy a usb cable for the xbox on eBay for $5

cant you just solder the usb wires ontop of the wires of the port? the port wil still be functional but not at the same time with a usb device

Yeah that's what I did so I wasn't reducing the function of the xbox, instead I increased its function. So even if he figured a way to play games via port 2, so much for 4 player split

Yellow is not needed for USB, it was for peripherals like the Xbox live headset.

I thought about doing this and then i remembered i had a busted controller with bad joysticks. Didn't have an extra dongle for a controller but i can pull one off a working controller temporarily, so i cut the controller cord and soldered a female USB to the round end. Now i can plug it into any Xbox controller dongle and connect a USB.
