I'm in the process of making this useless box - Using only the materials listed in this video I was only able to get the servos to work by using a Lipo battery. A 9V would NOT work! USB 5V would not work! I probably over-sized the battery but this useless box worked fine with a 2s Lipo Battery 7.4V 80C 7200mAh. Lipo batteries are expensive and you need a battery charger and voltage limiter. This all may be common knowledge for you techies out there but it was part of my noob learning curve that really slowed the project down for me...
@ericbrodin79854 жыл бұрын
I have just build this one and it works perfect, and to the other guys who is complaining about it doesn't work, test with a better power source. I have used 1300 mah 2S lipo and its no problem at all..

I made this version for fun, tho I did not use a bread board and heavily changed the code and made some random actions so it wasn't the same loop of actions all the time, however there are some issues in this design. The Lithium battery is completely unprotected, no battery management and if you leave the box switched on (which happens easily) then the battery can run completely flat making it dead and unchargable if this happens. Costly to constantly replace. I incorporated an "auto off" circuit that will disconnect power completely after 60 seconds of no use but second issue, I had a small short develop in a connection for the battery and without any fuse expect the battery to swell up and explode! Something to keep in mind if you have kids that play with it, add a small 3 amp fuse. Need to rebuild it but will likely make it with 4 AA cells instead as it is a little safer

Nice job. But why does the schematic show a 9v battery, if you specify a 7.4v LiPo? Will this work with a 9v battery? Or possibly 4xAA (6 volt)?

The arduino rev3 just needs 5V. Every battery higher than that works for the project

Box size depends on components, the way you shape the arm, and what box you can find or make. It's a project that's completely customizable. You can make it using a human-sized coffin, if you like.

On the diagram there is a mistake. It indicate a 9v battery but its a 6 to 7.4v battery that you need. If you put a 9v battey you will burn your servomotor.
