Here's my DIY Vocal Sound Booth - Voice Over - Zero Construction. I created from 4x8 sheets of rigid foam boards, duct tape, and 1" acoustic panels for $420. Easy to put together, it's light and easy to move and easy to take apart if needed. The only tool I used was a utility knife!
My recording gear is a Shure SM58 microphone, Sony MDR-7506 headphones, and I record directly to a Mac Mini running Adobe Audition.
Below are some of the items seen in the video.

I love doing the insulated foam recording booth. The price is just don't make sense for building it with wood. I appreciate seeing this video. Thank you

As someone who now works in a $10,000 vocal booth, I love stuff like this, because it reminds me of starting out the same way! Wishing you every success with your VO career. Outstanding!

I will probably try to do this. I record from a closet lined with the exact foam you used, also Amazon bought. I'll try to buy some rigid foam board and gorilla tape and make a booth like this. Thanks for this video.

I ended up using a 5 x 5 pop-up tent frame and draped moving blankets over ever side and roof. Works really well but I like what you did better! Does it get hot in yours? (It does in mine) What do you do to combat the heat? Oh, and how is the career going so far?

Love the video can you tell me how I can do basically the same thing but I need to be kind of soundproof for the people that live upstairs don’t hear me singing

I was thinking you can buy several 'Whisker Biscuits' used on archery compound bows and glue them together for a place to put the mic cable through that retains alot of sound proofing, maybe enclose them in PVC or something. It just dawned on me you can have a monitor in a vocal booth hooked to the main computer monitor (Do HDMI splitters exist?) and use a wireless keyboard linked to the external computer to control the DAW while in the booth if recording by yourself.

They do exist. I use mine for the exact purpose you described. :)

I live in an apartment. I am looking for more soundproofing, but also sound absorption is also important on the insde. This is for my son and when he records vocals, it is really loud. Have you checked to see how much soundproofing attenuation you get from inside the booth to outside? Thank you for the video. I was going to use the foam with framing and forgot how rigid the 2 inch stuff. Super simple and cost effective. Brilliant. Gorilla tape is also an excellent idea.

It’s more effective on absorption. Won’t really block out Lou’d outside noise. I’ve seen people buy moving blankets and drape them over booths, that might help also.

@@WayneReichert Hi, the duck tape is not sticking as well as I'd hope. Did you have any problems with the tape or double-sided tape?
@WayneReichert
@WayneReichert 3 жыл бұрын
TheGracieVshow no I haven’t had any problems. I did use gorilla tape mostly and put tape on both the inside and outside of where the wall as met. Everything is still in place. The double sided tape I used for the foam also worked well so far, I did use a double sided foam tape not the scotch tape kind.

Nice to see your Booth, how to Control the Noise of A PC ? it is a big challange for me to control the Fan Noise of My Desktop PC. Do you have some kind of suggestion ?
@WayneReichert
@WayneReichert 3 жыл бұрын
For me I use the Mac mini. Which is outside of the booth and I use a wireless mouse and keyboard. The monitor and other cables I ran under and outside the booth. All the recommendations I’ve seen are the same, pc outside of the booth.

Does this block out any outside noise? Or does it just dampen the echo / reverb?
@WayneReichert

Muffles outside noise but won’t eliminate it.
