Awesome Maria! You're right, it's so much cuter carrying around the tin case instead of that white one :) It's so nice and compact! Thanks again for doing this video xoxo

Thank you for this tutorial! It's amazing how much space is saved by using the little tin, and it's so much cuter!

Thats cool but I think you could've use the actual palette because its actually not too big
@palestblue8 жыл бұрын
+Zeynep Belirgen Of course :) but this box is so much prettier, don't you think?
@Olshia6667 жыл бұрын
I've put my watercolours in a stainless steel cigarette box I got online, it looks prettier and fits in small pockets. Also you can use an empty camera film can for water. Or a waterbrush.

OMG this is so cool! I wish I knew about this before!!! Thanks for sharing. I cant tell you how many times I've had those plastic watercolor cases fall apart or break on me. (I admit, I dropped one and it shattered in half lol) The tin can case is such a great idea... I'm loving it! I'll have to remember to send you a Christmas card this year!

I just made this, awesome idea. I happen to have an h20 brush which is awesome. But I also found in my stash a travel paint brush which is two parts that screw together to make a full brush. Fits perfectly in the set when broken down. Thanks for the idea

@FILIPP01008 жыл бұрын
Your paint was "already" in a travel set! Der.....
@palestblue8 жыл бұрын
I know :) The idea was to have a compact travel set that is also very pretty to look at :) I really loved this mint tin, that is why I wanted to use it instead of the white plastic travel set! Thank you so much for watching!
@HYRULEHISTORIA10 жыл бұрын
you should try super gluing those cheap magnets that come in the mail to the bottom of the pans
@narzq8 жыл бұрын
i would suggest that you spray paint the inside with a white appliance enamel for better color reference and rust prevention. also if you use self adhesive magnet strips on the bottom of the paint pans, you can easily replace or remove pans as needed.

+narzq Great ideas, thank you so much! :)

It's a lot better I'm trying to do my own in this last weeks but still I couldn't find a tin that I loved and my water colors are not in a small container like yours so it's harder.

where can i get that watercolor pocket set? thankyou :))

Hallo, kannst Du mir verraten wo es die Farben, Kleber und Mints gab? danke :-)
@palestblue10 жыл бұрын

i have the same Dalery Rowney travel set. its not exactly as pocket fitting as a mint tin (like an altoids tin) so this is much more convenient
@debl30637 жыл бұрын
The tins are cute, though.

Alessandro Pierfelice Unfortunately all I could find was a link to Amazon germany. But it seems that they used to be available on Amazon.com as well - maybe they will restock? www.amazon.com/Rapunzel-Organic-Mints-Lemon-Metallschachtel/dp/B002R6KASW

+Alessandro Pierfelice I know your post is a year old, but I found that Walmart carries a brand of mints called "Newman's Own Organic Mints" that look very similar to this. www.walmart.com/ip/Newman-s-Own-Organics-Ginger-Mints-1.76-oz-Pack-of-6/17194748

Won't it rust terribly?
@palestblue8 жыл бұрын
+GummyTumor I don't think it's made of iron or an iron alloy, so it won't rust. It might corrode over time, but metals used as tins for food are usually coated with a layer that will protect the material from corrosion. So I believe as long as one doesn't scratch the surface too badly it should be okay :). There are no visible signs of corrosion yet :)
@PumpkinPails8 жыл бұрын
+palestblue Great! I'm gonna go hunt down the perfect mint tin, now. Thank you for replying. :)
@waverlywillman74248 жыл бұрын
You should use magnets instead
@palestblue8 жыл бұрын
+Waverly Willman Thank you so much for the idea :) I found that tacky glue was the cheaper solution and it still holds the pens in the tin quite securely.
@spotoboy8 жыл бұрын
If you already own licquid watercolors, and you want to make a small dry portable one; then you buy something that comes in any tin box. Glue in some half pans and go. IF you bought a nice set of half pans in a travel case with a nice mixing lid and a slot for a brush>>>>>>>use it. It's not that big. Use it and go paint. don't play art material games with your head. All you need to make great art is a pencil. paper. eraser,pencil sharpener.

+Kenny Young Thank you very much for all the great ideas! I filmed this video quite a while ago and have since moved into a small Schmincke case that is quite slim and small and fits into my urban sketching kit :) I totally agree, it is not all about having a ton of stuff, it is all about creating all the time, no matter what one has at hand...
@Olshia6667 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure why people here be so snobby about how someone else keeps their art supplies; use this, don't do that, do things another way... No! I love to keep my watercolours in a metal tin, it looks better, has nice weight to it so taking it out to paint is that more satisfying. And the fact that i don't have an awkward white box sticking out of my handbag also pretty great because i take my set EVERYWHERE as opposed to just for travel. Really surprised this video was so misunderstood.

Wait isn't that putty? Not to be rude, but it looks a lot like museum putty...
@palestblue9 жыл бұрын
It is a kind of putty I guess, but has a little bit of a different consistency than museum putty. Museum putty will work just as well I am sure! :)

I'm pretty sure it's white "blue tac"
@magicoolpixie8 жыл бұрын
its blu-tac... not clay glue...
@palestblue8 жыл бұрын
+magicoolpixie Thank you so much for watching this video and for taking the time to comment! No, this is not blu-tac. Blu-tac is the name of a specific product made by a specific brand that is not available where I live. I used a similar product which is produced by the company Pritt and is sold as "Pritt Sticky Tac" in English-speaking countries.
@yoleeisbored8 жыл бұрын
its just generally called "adhesive putty"

If you're already buying a pocket set, why would you even bother with the DIY portion...?
@palestblue8 жыл бұрын
Why not? The mint tin is prettier, smaller and lighter...
