Yes. I love it too. It is bigger than most, so it holds all of my painting supplies. I purchased it at REI, if I can recall correctly. Have fun painting and I hope you can get out there with your painting supplies!!

Walmart has collapsible silicone cups and bowls in the hiking / camping section for $1.50. Unless you live in middle Tennessee. I bought all of them. I use two for painting, 2 for drinking, 2 for the car, 2 for the dogs food and water on the trail and back up just in case i lose something.

I love the dugato quill brushes. Along with fumumi (sp) brushes. They've replaced my kolinsky Sable brushes. Sable is sable so why pay more. I truly love them.

Thanks for sharing your Hiking Kit. Never thought of watercoloring while hiking. Definitely going to try it. Two passions at the same time-who knew!

I use the same palette and carry my brushes in there too... I flip the clear cover to keep the brushes, wrapped in a paper tower rectangle, enclosed while carrying the pallete. This way I avoid carrying an extra brush holder and keep paper towels handy.

If you haven’t already purchased your new water container I HIGHLY recommend the metal collapsible camping cups, some say “collapsible shot glass” but they come in different sizes, i have a couple small ones and a larger one(a couple 75ml i believe and a 250ml version) and the reason i like these the best is because they have a deep lid that doubles as my clean water well, giving me a larger dirty water rinse container and a smaller fresh clean water one for mixing clean colors. It fits in just about any pocket and goes with me literally everywhere I go.

Thanks for the idea. I actually already purchased the Meeden collapsible plastic water container. See here: amzn.to/3lexPOS However, I like the idea of a container that has a lid. Great suggestion. Thanks!

Your fanny pack is ideal.I am curious to know how you set yourself up to paint when up on the mountain. Do you carry a table upon which you set up your palette, big water container and sketch book. Thanks Kris.
@KrisDeBruineStudio3 ай бұрын
Great question. When I'm hiking I just prop my sketch book on my lap. I set the palette and water container on the ground, or on a log, or on a rock ...whatever is available. I'm usually hiking a fairly long distance...so it is essential that the kit is lightweight and portable.

You probably have your nifty new collapsible cup by now, but I was thinking it looks like you could fit that brush roll into your little plastic water container here to free up alot of space in your pack by nesting them. Then the water cup wouldn't really take up any space

I noticed your pencils have a very long taper, what kind of sharpener does that?
@KrisDeBruineStudio2 жыл бұрын
My art teacher taught me to sharpen my pencils that way.....but he had a tedious process using a knife. I found this sharpener on Amazon, that does the same thing in a fraction of the time. It works like a dream. :-) amzn.to/3ud63Hi

if u hike in this cold weather dont u need some gloves that keep u warm and are thin enough to be a funcioning painter with ?
@KrisDeBruineStudio3 жыл бұрын
Sure. Gloves would be a great addition to this plein air kit. I don't usually paint in cold weather so I didn't include them. However, these are the ones I love -- amzn.to/3rdyqDF

May I ask, do you also carry a daypack when hiking? How does this little bag work with that?
@KrisDeBruineStudio3 жыл бұрын
Hi Marion. Yes, I usually carry a day pack in addition to this "fanny pack". I am able to carry both at the same time. The day pack tends to sit above and on top of the fanny pack. Works great. But of course, results may vary depending on the specific packs you use. Happy hiking and painting!
