We are using silk and foam flowers. Artificial flowers have been a stress reliever because our budget is to low for a florist and if we did real we wouldn’t be able to get all our arrangements done by the wedding in 3 days. We ordered from Lings moment and they look so real! It has been easier getting all our arrangements done in the months leading up to the big day ☺️
@Lionesse-z415533 жыл бұрын
I might consider artificial. I'll need to see what our budget is like, because I LOVE real flowers.

I'm doing a combo of real and sola for this reason. The only real flowers I'll have I think are the centerpieces, since they'll be right in all the guests faces. That way all the bouquets can be made in advance too.

I DIYed my flowers with bouquets from the grocery store! Honestly, it was not stressful and one of my favorite memories/pieces (besides marrying my husband) of my wedding! It’s super simple, cost effective, and even in July they stayed fresh and cool multiple days before the wedding. I ran through all the options (a florist, Costco or Sam’s club, online flowers, wholesale warehouses) before realizing how simple, fun, and cheap it is.

How were you able to keep the flowers fresh in July? I’m getting married at an outdoor venue in July and I won’t have access to a fridge to keep them cool. 😅
@jillianschroeder Жыл бұрын
@@ashleyanderson6736 I lived in Colorado and we don’t have brutally hot summers! It was warm, but not bad. Also, I kept them in fresh water in my parent’s cool basement overnight and they kept perfectly.

I started collecting my flowers a couple months ago. I found a site for sola wood flowers that I signed up for a monthly subscription for 100 flowers a month for $25. I love this option because I get a great assortment and I customize my colors easily with acrylic paint, water, and vegetable glycerin. I also like that I can spread the expense out over several months and when dealing with a budget for a wedding, I won't miss $25 a month. It's also very convenient that I won't have to wait until 3 days prior to my wedding when I'm already stressed to put together all of my florals.

November 2020 living room wedding, thanks pandemic and had to fast track ceremony to buy our So Cal house. So I did a crash Trader Joes shop. I did them myself. Made two floral "centerpieces", my bouquet and boutonniere. I had watched floral school videos on youtube and ordered the supplies to make them last. I used "quick dip" when processing flowers and making arrangement and use it all the time ever since. I had awesome plans for doing the florals myself and found vessels at thrift store. I also go 3 wrought iron floral holders at same thrift store -- thinking a florist went out of business and made major donation. Practice, practice, practice. I was even thinking of doing a combo of silk and real but didn't end up doing that due to micro wedding. Maybe we will have a party and I can do florals then. I watched your floral video, DIY tips, and also watched videos of faux floral rentals. Keep in mind that florals can be very expensive and then you gotta have guest take centerpieces at end of night or make other arrangements to clear venue. I really love flowers, have fresh flowers in house weekly, and there was no way I was budgeting $xxxx+ for florals. Biggest challenge of DIY florals for me would have been doing them all myself and where do you store them so they stay fresh/cold. I also was taking your advice about just how much decor do you need at your wedding and who is going to set it up and take it down if you are DIY with no family helpers. Lastly, bought and still have, candle holders at same thrift store - votives and bought lovely linens from rental company going out of business. Bought items as deals occurred. Thanks for sharing your channel - even did a sampler from your cousin the mini-dessert maker.

PROFESSIONAL FLORIST HERE! I definitely understand everyone's need to stay within a budget, and did lots of DIYs for my own wedding. I may be biased here, but if you can't afford full-service florals, consider at least getting bouquets/boutonnieres/and any focal point flowers (i.e. ceremony arch, reception backdrop, sweet heart table, etc...) through a professional. Those will be the most photographed flowers on your wedding day. You can get by with DIYing centerpieces or any accent flowers like aisle decor, sign-in table arrangement, bar or dessert table pieces, etc... Also note... some florists may not like the idea of half DIY/half their work because if your centerpieces aren't top notch, they wouldn't want it to reflect poorly on their work, but most of the time, if you find the right florist, they're more than happy to work with you and suggest affordable alternatives. And if DIYing flowers isn't your thing, consider DIYing non floral centerpieces like lanterns/candles on half or 2/3 of your tables and going to a florist for the rest. It's a quick way to lower costs and still get a professional look.

Originally I was super against diy-ing florals because I’ve been in two weddings who did diy them and it was a HAWT MESS and I was super stressed. But now that I think about it, me and my bridesmaids all have some experience doing florals. So I’ll use the other weddings as a guinea pig and learn from what the brides did wrong. Praying for all y’all who are diy-ing ANYTHING for your wedding 🙏

We don’t have the budget to hire a florist, so we’re planning on DIYing our florals using FiftyFlowers. However, since we’re likely going to have 15-20 tables, we’re planning on using 5-6 bud vases for each table to simplify the design and use fewer stems per table. I do need to practice ahead of time, though, to make sure that quantity of bud vases is actually doable and won’t be a pain to transport.

I had a micro wedding, with like 4 or 5 tables and just bought a premade fake rose bundle from micheals on a sale and stuffed them into a candle holder from dollar store for each table. And then for my bouquet I did myself with a combo of dollar store, micheals and joann floral bunches mixed. I did a Fall wedding so fake mini pumpkins were also every where.

I get flowers to carry which will end up in a vase on our sweetheart table. He gets a boutonniere, and my mother and his get corsages. End of flower list. The backdrop, centerpieces and entryway will all be giant tissue paper pom poms and flowers, collapsible lanterns, and battery powered voltives. My floral budget is like $150, and we are both super cool with that. Flower girls/boy get bubble guns instead of rose petals.

However I couldn't afford to get the greenery runners on all the 8ft tables needed for my wedding. So my florist has included in my order all the loose greenery that would be used to make runners at a reduced costs. Day of, we will be hand laying the loose greenery down the centers of each table along with candles as a loose faux runner. Saved me a few hundred dollars per table.

Flowers are one of the most important things to me, so I’m planning to hire a florist. I love, love doing florals, but I know I wouldn’t be able to do them for the wedding. No place to store them that would be cool enough the day prior and transportation would be an issue. Plus, we only have two hours at the venue prior to the start for complete setup and I’m getting ready offsite. No way to work out the logistics. Anyway, I’m happy to hire a pro in this instance, but I loved your video and will send it to my MOH who is planning my bridal shower. She’s already said she wants flowers to be a feature, so this might help her.

Can you make a video about Fifty flowers that includes the bulk orders of greenery and filler flowers? I plan to make my own centerpiece and would love to order from Fifty flowers but I’m a little concerned that I may order too little or way too much. The website describes the geenery as coming in batches with 5-8 stems per batch but as someone with no experience in flowers it’s difficult to gage how much this is. I thought about orders a small batch of each so I can get a better idea but I’m already working on a budget and this may be one of those things that ends up throwing off the budget. Plus I’m sure a lot of others would find it very helpful. I couldn’t find any video that demonstrates the fifty flowers bulk greenery and filler flower order.

It depends on the design and the blooms.. peonies, hydrangea and gerbera daisies must be placed the day of if using oasis. I design corsages and boutonnière sometimes the Thursday before a Saturday wedding. Is it outside? Then day of. Inside where the designs can be kept cool and it is vase work? Meaning the blooms are properly hydrating in conditioned water? 3 days before. Also it helps to place flowers in pieces that have not fully opened if using oasis. Be wary of water picks. They limit your water source due to size. PLEASE PLEASE note that gerbera are chlorine sensitive, which means if you are using water from a source that treats water with chlorine, your gerbera daisies WILL NOT LAST!! also familiarize yourself with etheleyne gas and the flowers. Placing flowers near sources that emit the gas, such as fruit will damage the flowers.

I have been a licensed florist for almost 20 years(Louisiana requirement), and I will offer some advice. First, good design is good design whether that be faux, fresh or dried. Second, know what is in season and the weather when you get married. Lenten roses in August, not gonna happen, hydrangea in the heat can be beautiful but a professional will ensure they will not wilt, those suckers love water. Also PLEASE realize that MOST of those Pinterest photos are not REAL weddings, they are photo shoots to showcase beautiful florals, photography, etc. Those designs do not always take into consideration the logistics of your bouquets being in and out of water, they need to be cut each time, when you take them out for pictures and then 2 hrs later taken down the aisle. Also some blooms we literally chase around the globe in seasons, like peonies. If you sit down with any designer worth their salt, you let them know what you do NOT like, that is actually more important, what the aesthetic of your day is and your expectations and budget; they will work wonders for you. Congratulations!!!
