“Scratching about with a welding rod” such a true statement that anyone that’s arc welded can fully understand. My first welding experience was oxy-acetylene welding in Highschool welding class over 40 years ago. Very few people back then would have had a MIG welder so any other welding was done with a stick welder. Once I had the chance to use a MIG welder I was amazed at how well it worked with very little if any to clean up. I by no means am a great welder but if the welding gods are smiling then I can lay down some great looking beads. I don’t have a welder of my own but after seeing this video I can see that an arc welder (wish I had my Dad’s old Lincoln tombstone) is still a viable alternative for a lot of work at a more affordable price.
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious3 жыл бұрын
Agreed, for most home workshops, the stick will do the vast majority of tasks, except Aluminium Alloys I suppose. Quite affordable. Thanks Wayne!

Who said old dogs can't learn new tricks. I am going to build 4 of the first jig then you can build frames complete with out tacking check your measurements and adjust if you have to. I make wall brackets out 2in. x1/4 flatbar and do not need to remove the jig to weld that is great you can flip the parts and weld in any position. You need a vice on a pedestal. I made two for myself and made a trailer rotisserie. I built two trailers using it. I Showed my boss where I worked a picture of the vice he liked it so much he built 6 for the shop, great for cleaning parts any place in the shop. I have used jigs for many years and are great for repeatable parts so this video impressed me greatly. Keep up the great videos and play safe Cheers.

Very nicely done. Great video brother. Very informative and pretty entertaining. Your video was very well put together with great editing. Much appreciation for explaining how the two fixtures are properly made and used. Having the best tools in the world means nothing if you can't use them properly. Having that in your video is extremely helpful to those who are lacking in experience with such tools. Lastly, thank you for plugging Pask Makes. Don’t sell yourself short Scott. Yourself and Neil Paskin are both very accomplished makers that have done many incredible projects. Hopefully if there isn’t a lot of overlap (I think there is) in your subscriber lists then you will both benefit from the cross promotion like when you “dropped in” on Neil when he made his cog wheel. Hopefully the 2 of you can get together again since you’re both in Australia afterall. 😉

Great welding project. I couldn't agree with you more. If you want to start welding pick up a stick welder and start padding beads. Get a piece of 3" x 3" flat bar and lay one bead after another. When you have covered up the surface turn the piece of flat bar 90 degrees and fill it up again.

Amigo, puedes gritar...Eureka!!! Mis felicitaciones!
