Great tutorial! Thanks for adding humor and great instruction to youtube! The way you speak is so relaxing I felt I was half DIYing a craft and half being led in a meditation class! Love it!

I am so thrilled I found your video! I though I would need a Jig with pegs to make wire names! Someone asked me if I do those I told her I didn't have the equipment to do it. But now I see I don't have to have really anything! Cool beans! LOL

Hi Glenda, I'm so glad to hear you found this helpful! I had thought of trying to use a wire jig, but it would be difficult to get smooth flowing letters with nice transitions. This way just takes a bit of practice! Happy creating. :-)

Would it be possible to use a jig? It might be time consuming to set up, but you could make a dozen or so of the most popular words, and save them for future customers. Just a thought. Love your videos, keep sharing please. 💕

I'm sure you could do it with a jig, like you said, it would take time to set up. I chose not to use one as I thought I would get a nicer flow of the wire and more graceful results.

Would you recommend using half hard or dead soft wire?
@SandyHuntress4 жыл бұрын
That's a good question, Yasmine! It's kind of a trade off. If you use half hard, the piece will hold its shape better, but will be harder to form. If you use dead soft, it will be easier to work with, but won't hold it's shape as well. I recommend practicing with dead soft, then try half hard for a finished piece.

How would you do this project but with fairy lights & much bigger to place on the wall above a bed?
@SandyHuntress3 жыл бұрын
I think you'd need to use a completely different material. Wire that thick would be difficult to form neatly. You could try wire coat hangers... Maybe some kind of flexible tubing? Aren't there lights that come encased in clear tubes? Or draw the letters and have them cut out of wood, then wrap the lights around them.

How do you recommend fixing wire wording to a solid wall?
@SandyHuntress3 жыл бұрын
It would depend on the type of wall and the scale of the wire word. You could strategically place picture hooks.

Can we use i have 22 gauge and 18 gauge as my options so which one would be more better ?
@SandyHuntress2 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question! 🙂 You’ll find that the heavier gauge, the 18, will hold its shape better. The 22 will be too flimsy to use in jewelry.

What kind of Wire are you using?
@SandyHuntress8 жыл бұрын
Hi Priscilla, I used 20 gauge craft wire, which is what I suggest practicing with. Once you get the hang of it, you could make them in plated or filled metals for a really nice piece of jewelry.

Hi! I’ve just started this. I’m using 20 gauge wire but my words stretch, is this supposed to happen or am I doing something wrong? X
@SandyHuntress4 жыл бұрын
You need to harden the wire in order for it to keep it shape. You can do this by gently squeezing it in between nylon jaw pliers. Or you can tap it with a rawhide or nylon mallet on a bench block. If you started with dead soft wire you will find that it doesn’t hold it shape as well as if you start with half hard wire. Hope this helps. Happy creating!
