thanks for the ideas. I hate plastic, it gets so dirty and is hard to clean. this is cheap and easy enough to make that after a few years, if it starts to look bad, I'll just make another one!

Nice idea but I don't personally like wooden kitchen hardware. Cutting Boards and other things end up half rotten because you're constantly washing them and wood absorbs a lot of moisture.
