DIY Work Platform For Your Pallet Forks!

Fabricating a work platform for my pallet forks. I use a free chemical container cage that I was given. A very simple project making a few modifications to make myself this work platform. This turned out to be a very useful tool with my tractor.

Absolutely brilliant idea. For the people who say its unsafe, well I've seen people just use a wooden pallet to stand on. This is way better.

These are very strong as well. They are designed to carry over 1000lbs, so a 200lb man is nothing. Thanks for watching and sorry I missed your comment originally.

Great idea, and much less expensive than the manufactured versions. For anyone who doesn't weld, you could just bolt the end of the chain through the hole below where you welded it. Also, you could leave the top bar in place and then enter the cage by ducking through the opening (like the buckets used by highline electrical workers).

Just a thought, you might add chains that you can hook around the fork upright.......just in case someone moves the stick in the wrong direction

Glue you some shingles to the bottom or roll it with paint and sprinkle you some sand in it to make it non slip, trust me you'll be glad you did

Maybe cut some pool noodles length wise and pad that railing a bit. Maybe consider a harness of some sort to stay with the cage, Just in case. Good cam work Talia

Awesome idea. Was going to do the same and looked on the internet to see if anyone else had lol! What metal is the cage made out of? I assumed it was aluminum. If I can weld with my Normal steel mig welder, even better!

It is galvanized steel so you can use your MIG.

I find them on Facebook marketplace. It sure the official name but if you search “cage” you’ll probably get some hits. I live in a rural area so they are plentiful here.

@@shopdoc Thank you.I found them on craigslist.They call them pallet cages and most come with the water totes and they're removable. Here they mostly had maple syrup in them at one time. Thanks again.

IBC (Intermediate Bulk Containers) Totes. We call them IBC Totes.

That looks like. a very unwise suggestion. It is not designed for the purpose for which you intend to use it. You will not be using it for its original intended purpose. It looks like a “hold my beer and watch this!” Making one for someone else is even more foolish! Have you ever heard of liability?

HaHA! Well I disagree, it has been redesigned and now it is being used as intended. I am very familiar with liability and I can assure I have no concerns. My friend loves his by the way and has even made some improvements that I may implement....stay tuned.
