Hey Alex! I tried screen printing three shirts today. I noticed the second one had a spot where it didn’t get coated as much. Third one had a slighter larger spot. Was the ink drying on the screen? I thought i could use the screen back to back when doing the same color. I screen printed then put the screen directly on the next one and did it again.

I'm curious about this too. How do you do multiple shirts at a time w/o having issues with the paint potentially drying out or affecting the finished product?
@DIYAlex
@DIYAlex 2 жыл бұрын
Here’s a tutorial to show you how to do multiple projects! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHuxZpuljNysjac I would try putting extra ink over that spot and see if that helps. If you think the ink is drying, then you do a small spritz of water with a spray bottle to make sure it’s not drying. The ink is water based so it won’t hurt anything as long as you don’t water it down too much!

Great stuff. I have a sign warehouse plotter and lots of vinyl and clear and paper transfer paper. I used to do a lot of glass etching but the trend has faded somewhat so we bought a t shirt heat press and moved on. Recently got into doing tie dyes and will use this process to do our brand logo on our shirts. Perfect solution and way easier than emulsion techniques, thanks a ton.

@DIYAlex
@DIYAlex 2 жыл бұрын
Heat guns often get way hotter than heat presses, so I'm not sure it would be a good idea to hold a heat gun at fabric for an extended period of time. It may work, but I would be nervous about weakening the fabric. You could use a household iron to heat set instead. I have also heard of people putting it in the dryer for a while, but I haven't tried that myself.

Hello. I tried this on a test shirt. I put a piece of cardboard in between so paint would go through which it did and that is fine but it's supposed to soak through the shirt fibers correct? Having wet paint on fabric, obviously, but to me that kind of ruins the underside of the shirt...even tho nobody sees the underside lolol.

Do u have to put anything between the layers of tshirt to protect from bleeding through?
@DIYAlex

You can put parchment paper between the layers of the shirt if you want.

How long would you let it dry normally...not using a heat gun...before setting it with heat press? Great video.

It depends on how thick your ink is. Just touch it lightly when you think it’s dry. A few hours should be plenty of time.

Thanks Alex. I noticed that you didn’t put parchment paper or cardstock inside your shirt to prevent ink from possibly passing through. Is it a necessary step?

I thought 651 vinyls are the most sticky? Why are we using permanent vinyl and not the removable ones?
@DIYAlex

You can use either

I love your video! I'm starting this adventure to help out my husband's business! It's all new to me so I've had a couple of mess ups. most of all is how do you clean ink from bleed-throughs, so it doesn't get on the next shirt? or do you have to throw it away and start over again?
@DIYAlex

Mess ups are part of learning! I would wipe off the screen if you see any bleed through in between the shirts.

I haven't tried this, but on another site one person commented that he taped pennies to the corners to keep the screens further from the shirt,so when he lifted the screen off it didn't bleed onto the shirt.

How long would you set it with an iron and I'm assuming same thing seperat8ng the iron and the material with Teflon or parchment paper? I just bought a cricut maker and a printer and I probably could swing a heat gun but not a press too at the moment. I love the idea of an iron. Thank you for mentioning it.
@DIYAlex

I would move the iron around the image for about 30 seconds and that should heat set it.

Hey Alex, What specific vinyl do you use for this project? Would any vinyl work? (ex. holographic, glow in the dark)

Any adhesive vinyl should work fine.

Hello, great video. I did mine and the design came out awesome. I left to set | dry overnight then heat pressed it, then put it in the wash and the design washed off..why would that be? Do you Ed to heat set it then leave for a few days before washing. I just wanted to try it out first before I do this for friends and they wash the shirts and the designs disappears. HELP!

Make sure your heat settings are high enough. You need 340 degrees for 20 seconds on the entire design.
