IDK if this was added anywhere else in comments but I was trying to make multiple shirts with the same screen, the first one would come out amazing then the second one would have hardly any ink transfer to the shirt. After doing some digging online I figured out that A) the Speedball ink I used is water soluble (which makes thin layers dry fast) B) My thin layer of ink was drying and clogging up the screen holes because I waited too long between shirts around 5-10 minutes. So lesson learned have all the shirts you want to press ready to go and don't wait more than 5 min between shirts and also don't rush the shirts and forget to cover the registration marks or circle hole at the top between shirts (luckily the ink washes out but I forgot to cover the circle oops!). Thanks Jennifer for your hard work! You are my go to when I need cricut help.

I also did multiple shirts and ran into this problem even when I moved quickly! I fixed it by carefully cleaning the non-vinyl side of the screen after the 3rd or 4th use with a toothbrush and water and VERY carefully dabbing at both sides with a paper towel.

Keep a spray bottle with water handy. Spritz between shirts and cover with damp cloth to prevent premature drying. Or use plastisol ink. Plastisol is much messier, so more care is needed. But it doesn't dry and clog your screens so fast. You will need a plastisol cleaner (or acetone) to clean. But your tradeoff is longer working time between prints.

I've been doing this for years without the screen. You just cut your design normally onto adhesive vinyl, stick it onto the shirt directly after weeding, and squeegee some paint. Easy

Late to the party. This is a good instructional video. I just want to add that a heat gun greatly speeds up the time for the second layer. You don't need to cure the ink, but just hit it long enough with the heat gun to dry to the touch. You can apply the second layer in a matter of seconds.

If this is your first time screen printing, have a few test shirts ready and cut extra copies of your designs, just in case. Getting the ink amount and squeegee pressure just right takes some practice, so don't try it out on your favorite shirt right away! Jennifer, this is the very first video of yours that I have seen! Fantastic job! I know how much effort goes into the editing process of a video, even for a short simple type topic. I can see that you put a lot of time and effort into making a very helpful and easy to follow video! Watching this video, I feel you thoroughly explained every step along the way! This video DID create a few questions though. If I have a shirt with 3 or 4 colors and the ink takes...we'll say a day to dry, is there anyway to "force" it to dry quicker? Could I use the heat press between each different color? Could I use a heat gun to speed up the drying process? (of course without scorching the shirt material). If I have shirts with 4 colors, I don't really want to wait 4 or 5 days to get the project completed. Anyway, awesome material, I am looking forward to watching more of your videos!

I don't believe that would be a problem unless it is copyrighted.

Can any design be screen print?

Any design? That would depend on how many colors you want to use and how involved you want to go with this method.

Thanks for a great video - it is SO tempting to give this a try! 😃 Is this something that requires good ventilation, the way that infusible ink does? If so, is it just during the heat pressing part, or the whole time you're using the ink? Thanks again so much!

You are so welcome! It is always good to work with good ventilation.

@@JenniferMaker I have a question about the ink, you say that the ink stains the sink when washing, but I live in low-rental housing so I don't have a garden to wash my equipment. I have a stainless steel sink will the ink stain it or is there a way to get it off? Thank you for your feedback and this wonderful screen printing lesson. great day

After printing, can the vinyl be saved to reuse or does it need to be recut if you want to make the same project again in the future?
@JenniferMaker
@JenniferMaker Жыл бұрын
I haven't personally tried it but I did read that vinyl screen print stencil can typically be used about 5 times before the vinyl starts to lift.
