Hi Friends,
In this video I will be showing you how to make a moon lander and a rover working models out of paper and cardboard for high school projects. This model is similar to Chandrayaan - 2 mission Vikram lander and Pragyan rover models. This video is for educational and model making purpose. I have made a working rover model in this video.
All necessary dimensions for making the model and step by step tutorial is shown in the video. This model will be apt for school projects, science and aerospace exhibitions. Hope you will enjoy this video

Thanks. You will need around 8 square feet of cardboard for the size i have made. Generally cardboard will have three layers of paper. The top and bottom layer will be flat and the middle one will be wavy. There are also 2 layered cardboard. It has only the top and middle paper (1 flat and 1 wavy paper). This is called corrugated paper roll. You can get this in amazon. Generally i use corrugated roll and the 3 layered cardboard. You can also stick 2 corrugated sheets together to make a strong cardboard, Hope this helps. All the best....😊

I got it from a local store. Similar motors are also available in Amazon, but the quality was not good. I bought one pair from amazon but it stopped working in 10 mins. Try to get this in a local store if possible, else buy online. Amazon link: amzn.to/2Yqs8RW

How to connect the wires so that the rover comes down?

You can connect the rover and battery with at least a meter length of a wire (with switch on the lander back), and place both the wire and battery inside the lander. In this method, the rover will move down the lander without any issues, but reverse motion is not possible. If you want reverse motion, you will have to change the polarities of the battery. In this video when i tried to move the rover down, the rover slipped down the inclined surface very fast because of its own weight due to Earth's gravity. This same model would have not slipped down so fast in the lunar surface, because the gravitational pull in the moon is very less than that of the earth. So, do not make a smooth inclined surface as i did. Please let me know if i had answered your questions and let me know if you need more clarifications.
