Join me as I flip this antique barrister cabinet and give it a complete diy makeover! I start by removing all the original finish, bringing this piece down to its bare bones. From there I was able to fix any pieces that were broken and then refinish/ hydrate the wood back to its beautiful original look. I was asked to add a copper detail, so the top got a complete copper touch and the inside was refinished with a beautiful Japanese inspired wallpaper detail. I also added a paper and mail holder and cleaned the piece up to perfection! What did you think? Would you buy this refinished bookcase for your home?!

Danie the finished product was phenomenal, it was better than it's ever been. That being said, from one furniture flipper to another, the sheer amount of prep work you put into that is so easily glossed over in a video. You put some SERIOUS hours of hard graft into prepping that piece. Even just stripping of the old varnish is a long & messy job. Huge kudos to you. You worked so hard & have created a genuine treasure.

You not only refinished, refurbished and restored this bookcase, you made it into a truly beautiful piece of furniture. I grew up with barrister bookcases -- my parents bought them secondhand to house our huge number of books (also bought secondhand). I didn't even think about those bookcases, they just were. If I had one of them now, I'd rent a truck, drive all the way to Toronto (500 miles) and beg you to do this again with my bookcase. Can I please please be an honorary mother or MIL?

I’m looking at my antique barrister cabinet that I’ve owned for 30 years with brand new eyes now! I love that you kept the original sticker and reapplied to the wallpaper and didn’t do anything to the metal bands on the sides of the cabinets , so beautiful ❤

I love how this turned out. I have one that was my Great Grandmother's. I don't even know how old it is. She had it as far back as I can remember and it passed from generation to generation. Its a deep dark walnut color and I love it. It never occurred to me to change anything, but I absolutely love the wallpaper and stationary sorting insert you added. First video of yours that I have seen and I am really impressed with your work. Glad you kept the original look and features. My grandmother had two of these Barrister Bookcases and they were in excellent condition, so when she passed, the family had an estate sell. I remember everyone fighting for them, they sold at a price that shocked everyone. Great work, will be watching more of your videos. Keep up the excellent work.
