Cleaning a Jeep engine bay is fun, it’s more water resistant than any normal car. It’s an offroad vehicle. Maybe do some hybrid or electric cars next time? I also recommend to film the engine bay & the dash before cleaning to look for any check engine light etc. It’s just a precaution to see if there is any damage/error before the cleaning process. I got a friend who blamed for a check engine light thats already been there before cleaning, but sadly he has no proof of it.

I use DI filtered water to clean and rinse the engine bay. I’ve read that electrical issues are caused by the minerals in water being conductive, not the water itself. Whether or not that’s true, I don’t know. But it works for me. And I don’t get water spots if I miss anything in the drying process. I like the idea of using Quick Beads in the rinse. I’ll have to try that. And I love the Master Blaster. The Sidekick works great as well 👍 My mechanic appreciates the clean engine bay when he gets in there too!

People are going to say “the pressure washer did the majority of the work”. They’re not wrong. However, the addition of chemicals (and agitation) helps to loosen stubborn dirt from the cracks and crevices. I’m totally on board with this method except for the foaming steps. I don’t foam anything, I just don’t believe in it. But that’s me, that’s my process. Soap, alone, cleans engine bays like 99% and like 99% of the time. I mean, that is, if there’s no engine, brake or transmission leaks. I seriously doubt DiY All Clean would be able to handle any kind of built up gunk … maybe I’m wrong? I don’t know for sure, I don’t have it … yet. But I HAVE used DiY Rinseless on dozens of vehicle engine bays and it works excellent. I think a lot of people overuse harsh cleaners unnecessarily. I’m one of those guys who tries to keep it simple. If it’s not needed, then why do it? 👆🏼I’m not saying All Clean is garbage, it most certainly has its place. I’m saying why use it if I don’t have to. 😊😊😊

@@diydetailofficialFair enough. At this moment in time, I have entirely too many APCs and degreasers. I have no need for another. I’m sure, eventually, I’ll pick some up. While spraying the Quick Beads around the engine bay, I would assume some Quick Beads most likely splashed on the exterior paint. Would a quick follow up wash with Incredible Suds or Rinseless of the paint get the Quick Beads off so a coating would cross link properly or polishing the paint be recommended to insure proper cross linking?

Been a mechanic since 1989. We have always pressure washed under the hood.... even in the carburetor/ distributer days. No one covered the distributer and didn't think twice about the alternator. I have had one 1 issue on the restart after the wash (in 30 plus years) and that was due to the coil pack on a VW was cracked. So it needed changed anyway because it was damaged. Why oh why are people worried about water in an engine bay????? Guess they don't drive on raining days

If they were ruining engines, they would have gone broke by now. He said I was clueless and should take the advice of mechanics. I then replied that dealerships employ numerous mechanics in their service areas, if those mechanics believed detailing engines was risky, I would assume they would have said something to the general manager. My comments were then deleted. He doesn't seem to enjoy counterpoints to his assertions.
