Welcome back to Decorate with Me, the mini-series where I bring you along while I decorate my small apartment. Last episode I moved in, painted and started setting up the bedroom. In this episode I still don't have much furniture but we'll get to work on the bathroom and really get the bedroom looking homey!

You should add an LED light strip on top of the shelf above your bed! It’ll definitely brighten up the room since it’s a bit dim because the shelf is covering the light from your sconces.

atrani4 Lol, i feel you. I bought my house in Sept. 2015 and I have yet to do what I wanted to do! Haha. All I keep i doing is aquiring more stuff that are “projects” and girl, let me tell you... 3 years later and I’m still in the “I have 27 years to get it done” hahaha jk

Christina L true but not all landlords would let you put holes in the walls and take out bathroom cabinets

Most landlords will let you upgrade the place if its clear your making it better, it just means when she moves out the place will sell for more.

OMG please re-caulk the tub! It’s so easy and inexpensive to do and it will make a huge difference! Also, I LOVE the little wooden boxes you made!!

I love how REAL this is....including the awkward moments. It mimics my experience with DIY, particularly the part where the screw needs to be moved 1/2 inch down, eek! or there is a little frustration with altered plans and tiredness.

To make up for the storage you lost with the mirror, you could install a cabinet over the toilet in place of the shelves. That's what I did in my 1960's-era house, and it made a huge difference. I actually got more storage from the wall cabinet, and the flat mirror helped the sink area feel better. Win-win

Love the bath tray!! Question though - without some sort of seal on the wood might it rot over time because of the moisture??

I feel you on tiny kitchen struggles!! I live in a studio and live my life with one drawer as well. Love your storage solution, awesome use of space! You should totally put a butcher block top on the island :)

Awe man I wish you would have shown us how you installed the sconces with the sticky hook because I want to do something like that in my bedroom. But GREAT job! I hope one day that I can be at your level of diy queen!

I'm not sure how she did but I have done similar things with command hook brand sticky velcro. Like the hooks except you stick one on the wall and one on whatever you're hanging and then they velcro together, and I mean like super strong velcro!

@@kassk6383 Velcro idea is new for me☺. My advice on reg. command strips is only to use them to hang items you can afford to lose (if they fail to hold). Had many pals suffer losses even when followed pkg. They now prop art on consoles or ledges, and use a command hook to prop picture wire (so more safe from falling to ground). Good luck.

You have some pretty cool ideas and I'm impressed with your ability to make things to fit your space. 20 years ago I bought my first very small flat and know from experience that necessity is the mother of invention as well as that there are many mistakes to learn from! I made a high shelf to fit the width of the shortest wall in my living room (it was an odd shape) supported underneath by brackets for hanging plant baskets, so I was able to hang cute things underneath. I think it gave the room more character, yours does too.

Yellows, blues, reds in select areas would really pop! Even the kitchen island - why not a primary color other than black?

TENSION ROD IN SHOWER, take a normal sized shower curtain-tension rod, and put it along side the back of the shower and hang A LOT of stuff on. It will help keep stuff of the tub corners also and make less mold to clean.

You have the best landlord! We are very, very, no existing ability to hand stuff on our walls😩 we did use command strips. However, the command strips don’t work. I think it’s the humidity here. Anyway, mahalo for inspiration.

Try Tilex mold and mildew remover for the grout in your bathtub. It’ll whiten it up in one or two applications.

I did a similar one, but the surround on my tub juts in an inch on each side, so my shelf is up high and goes the full length. I see that Kelsey's doesn't, but she doesn't have to share the tub space.

love your Kallax hack! I literally have done the same thing with adding the legs to one (the exact same legs... ha!) and mine is used as a vanity with the drawers full of makeup/nail/hair products. Question though: How did you install your plant shelf if there was concrete behind it? Because I have the exact same issue in my condo living room!
