It has great potential. As I see it: the right shoulder strap should be moved more toward the neck. Or wave it through the neck loop before you sew it back to the original place. Maybe also add an orange panel to the right side. Maybe just a wide ribbon of orange that you attach to somewhere on the upper right edge and then drape down and then toward the back. Maybe in the next Sunday video? The sewing project that we see at first as a failure, is just the first step of a piece that can achieve greatness, it just needs a little more time and energy.

I honestly think it would have worked better with less sewing, and cutting... and more drapping, with a couple holes to thread through! I think that the fabric give the illusion of becoming thinner, but it is just squished... and then spread, so it can be wider around the waist and shoulder. It is always smart to find the back of these pictures, to see how they draped the fabric, but even now, I would thread the gold through the hole, around the neck, and through the hole again, just to see how that would fit? it's not the same without being a long rectangle, but it would look better than it is now! And the gold could have a lining, with various interfaced areas (I doubt there is a direction that this fabric doesn't stretch! ), such as the shoulders. I did something similar with a satin wrap skirt, that also needs to go through a hole and around the body!

It would be much better to make it all one colour. The original piece gives a seamless impression which is killed by using two colors

Next time instead of lining you can just top stitch it! Just tuck the ugly fabric so it lays how you want and go over it

i am not like a professional tailor myself but that top looked too easy for it to have turn out so badly first you need your size dress form second you need to follow tutorials when in doubt it helps a lot and i agree your choice of fabric especially the gold was off
