Good job! I'm only at 120 hours but will have your excellent video ready when I get to 400 hours. Ohhh... And BTW... Purging the air from the fuel line looks SO much easier than how I used have to do it on our old Massey 265 which required me to loosen off all the injector lines then try and get one cylinder going and quickly tighten the others... Lol.. and yes.. I know that's not the approved way, but it was the only way that worked on the old girl... I SO wish we had this Kubota back on our farm when our Family was still farming. Keep up the good work, love the video and my L3300 tractor which you had a hand in me choosing... Cheers

Great video, very informative and entertaining. Just an FYI, I believe all of the "line protectors" are split, just pull from one end and they should peel away. The seem may not be facing outward, so you can't always see it. It's actually "wire loom", I've used it for years installing the wiring for trailer hitches. Not the first time I've seen it used for something other than wire. It makes a great wear protector. Thanks again. God bless, stay well.

Martin, I re-watched your very helpful video today before cleaning the water separator on my L6060, but I still maintain that diesel and kerosene are not beneficial to your skin. I do my own repairs and maintenance at my hobby farm and wear nitrile gloves once I realized that the professionals do it. Anyway, I find that it takes less time and effort to put on gloves than washing my hands to get rid of the diesel smell before dinner. Stay healthy and thanks for the videos!
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 3 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear you found my video helpful! I’m pretty sure diesel and kerosene are not beneficial to skin too, but I don’t worry about with as little exposure as I get to it. If I worked in a shop that had me in contact with petroleum products a lot, I would certainly wear nitrile gloves. So, I wear them on the nastier, prolonged jobs, but I don’t bother with them for a quick task that might get a petroleum product on me. I just wash hands afterwards. Thanks for watching and I hope you stay healthy too!

Great video. I just noticed my new tractor with 16 hours on it has a full load of water in the fuel separator. Odd that it happened so fast. I only added 5 gallons of fuel to it since delivery.
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Mike! That is odd and would suggest the water was already in the fuel or fuel system. Put some Howe's Diesel Treat in your fuel and that should stop the problem. It did for me. The way I do it is I put the Howe's in my empty 5 gallon cans before filling them. That way your fuel is protected from condensate and gelling even while in storage. I have a video covering how I fuel my tractor: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIKvf6mYhM5kkKs

Interesting the fuel filter/water seperator is different on the 3901 compared to the older 3800 which is what I have. The 3901 arrangement is much improved. The 3800 does not have a separate fuel filter, the one that resembles an oil filter. The 3901 is much better in my view. FYI, my 3800 is a 2013 model, I am not sure, maybe other 3800s we're modified before then3901 was offered. Thank you for this video. 👍

Hello, love your work maybe you might have knowledge on a kubota mini excavator X040-4 with 1802 hrs. She fires up runs for 30-60 seconds then dies out. On the computer in the 2 fault codes pop up 064 Engine and 076 DPF is clogged. Got the DPF baked in the mean time replaced primarily and sec fuel filters cracked the lines she's getting fuse. Got the DPF back connected all the thermo sensors. Still same issue. Hooked up a diesel scanner found multiple fuel pressure sensors "high" and rail pressure issues, crankcase sensors issue. I've spoke to 3 different techs with Kubota one is say bec of DPF issues the kubota pcm/ecm shuts down after 4 attempts for safety reasons. Other tech told me "no" the bio diesel might have crystallized and I need a new common fuel rail with the sensors and new lines. Can you please help me I'm stuck.

Hi Ken! Sounds like it probably a fuel system problem. First thing to check is if there’s something in the fuel tank blocking the flow of fuel. Also when you turn the key to heat the glow plugs do you hear the clicking of the priming pump? When was the fuel filter last changed? Good luck!

I bought my L series used and did not get a manuel. I was loosing power and think my fuel pump might be the issue. do you have a video on "now it will not crank"?
@DIYMyWay

Sorry, but I don’t because I haven’t had that problem yet. You can be sure that if I do, I’ll make a video on it! Your injectors might be fouling up. Do you use a fuel additive like Howe’s Diesel Treatment? If not you should try one. Thanks for watching!

I would suggest small strap wrench instead of the adj. pliers so you don't mar the cap
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 4 жыл бұрын
Good point. That would matter only if I was using it to put the new filter on, but since I only hand tighten the new filter per the manual, it a non-issue. I certainly don’t care if I mar the old one I’m replacing. Thanks for watching!

Anyone happen to know the size of the fuel hoses on this tractor? Mine is a 1984 L235. Probably the same size hoses. Having trouble finding that info. Thanks:)

I can’t get my fuel filter off. Using a filter wrench, the filter mount is moving. I’m afraid I might break the mount. Any advice?
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay Жыл бұрын
If this is the original filter on the tractor and it’s painted the same color as the chassis then it being held by the paint. In that case, take a utility knife and score all the way around where the filter meets the mount several times then squirt some WD-40 on it and let it sit for awhile before trying to remove the filter. That’s how I got my original hydraulic filter off. Good luck!

@@DIYMyWay after soaking the seal with penetrating oil, I was able to use a chisel and a hammer on the lip of the filter to break it loose. Filter had been spun on so tight the seal tore in half coming off!

Is it pretty much the same process for a Kubota U25 mini excavator??

I image it would be a very similar process for a mini excavator, but I’m not sure. It’s best to check the manual. Thanks for watching!

Does the water separator remove water that is suspended in the fuel?
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. In fact, since water is heavier than Diesel fuel, it settles to the bottom making it easy to separate. Thanks for watching!

Another great, informative and entertaining video! In your experience, how often should the average time be before the red float reaches the white line to have water maintenance done? I bought my used L3301 with about 620 hrs on it and watched your video shortly after. I changed fuel filter and cleaned the water separator at about 625 hrs. I have now emptied it 2 more times and only put on about 30 hours. After the 2nd time I siphoned the gas tank and replaced with fresh diesel and power service additive to help remove water. It took only about 15 hours for the red float to reach the while line again. Is this too soon? If so, suggestions? Thanks again for your advice.
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, JD! Yes, that's way too soon. When I got my L3901, I noticed the red float was rising very slowly, but no where near the white line. I started using Howe's Diesel Treatment and it stopped collecting water. The first time I emptied and cleaned it was at 400 hours and it still had not reached the white line. The way I do it is I put the Howe's in my empty 5 gallon cans before filling them. That way your fuel is protected from condensate and gelling even while in storage. I have a video covering how I fuel my tractor: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIKvf6mYhM5kkKs So I recommend checking to make sure the condensate isn't forming in whatever you store your fuel in. Treat it with an additive at the time you fill your storage cans. Hope this helps!
