When it comes to cheaper movements this is absolutely the king no doubt, very well made by Seiko, very easy to work on(other than their magic winding mechanism), they are stupid reliable and very common

I have always wondered if you can take the rotor off automatics with handwind and use them in slightly thinner cases and without the rotor covering the movement

The power reserve on automatic watches with no winder is less than 41 hours and reely on being worn regularly
@JgHaverty
@JgHaverty Жыл бұрын
... what are you talking about 😂. If you power an nh 35 to full power, it lasts 41 hours. Over time, after 7-8 years, itll slow down to about 39-40 hours instead.

When winding the watch manually, should it get stuck in a certain place? Mine keeps spinning. is this normal
@CrossingRover
@CrossingRover 10 ай бұрын
That’s normal, it dissipates the excess energy by slipping the mainspring around inside the barrel like a clutch. Same way the automatic movement can’t overwind the watch.

404 / 5 000 The biggest problem is servicing this mechanism. Any trivial repair or cleaning is unprofitable... It is better to replace the entire mechanism. Moreover, it has plastic parts, so it is a watch that will last 10-20 years and if it breaks or requires cleaning, it is not worth it. That's why Swiss mechanisms are much better, because you can give such a watch to your children.
@jayjayhooksch1
@jayjayhooksch1 Ай бұрын
I disagree. I inherited a Rolex but it is beyond my means to have it serviced. If I leave my kids a timeless looking and quality material watch (good steel, good fit and finish, sapphire, ceramics etc) with an nh35 they will always be able to afford to have it repaired since any watchmaker (or even my kids themselves) can replace the movement at minimal cost. The problem is finding a good quality watch that runs the NH series movements that isnt a stigmatized homage brand. I have opted to order components individually and assemble some watches myself. I plan on teaching my kids how to assemble the parts, regulate the movement and do routine maintenance.

Is it a Chinese NH35. Because there is no country origin or the rotor. As the genuine rotor has japan or Malaysia stamped. The one in this videos has TMI stamped.

nh35 movements can get to 3-5 secs a day so that is really good. Most of the problems I have seen on watches with the nh35 was not the movement it was the cheap ass company that sold the watch has 0 quality control. But in the end we get what we pay for. But a nice 300-400 dollar watch should last 5 years before you need to do anything to it.
