People are making this too hard… air line should be mounted above P trap, take air compressor, blow the line out with high pressure…. Air duster can work to clear the line as well but high pressure works great…. It’s routine maintenance…… regardless of what kit you use, even the kits should be routinely maintained. This method should be the most preferred due to the fact that every man needs a air compressor, one that is unnecessary so it can handle any air tool. Now because of the faucet, you have a bad axx air compressor, and have the excuse to start buying air tools that you never really use, but can also show your friends. Now your friends will need a leaky faucet.

Do I remove the Faucet to facilitate the removal of these lines or just pull them off from underneath? Please explain. Thanks for watching, removing these lines from this specific faucet setup is very tedious… It’s best to have the faucet fully removed and resting on a table or in your lap for this procedure. Most will steer away from pulling lines off faucet as it can possibly become a problem putting them back on. Several of our viewers have shared with us that they removed faucet from countertop and removed lines from filter case. They then allowed faucet and lines to soak in a pan of vinegar for 24-48 hours which cleared up any internal grime causing issues. 😎👍

I change the water filters, the membrane filter and the flow control. Then I found out there was a leak under the sink. Coming from the black line. On this system (general electric smart water system) there are 3 lines one blue that provides clean water to the faucet and 2 black ones. The 2 black ones are attached to a metal part that has a very small (ridiculously thin... thinner than a toothpick , way thinner!) From there the water comes out and drips to the other black line. Well, when I removed this thing to see what was happening it broke on me. Do you know the name of it please? So I can order it. I have already spend about $90. This system costs $ 160, 180. I am beyond frustrated now. I have already cleaned the whole plumbing all the way to the wall but because it keep leaking that way I wanted to check were the lines were leaking. Ok, I'm just repeating my self. I'm just so frustrated. I waited 10 days for the flow control to arrive and how this . Please help me . I did purchase it with home depot in 2017 or 2018

Our GE RO unit is hooked in the basement. We have no need for the air gap as our waste line is plummed away from the unit directly into our crock in our basement. Is this bypass needed? Thanks for watching and that’s a great question. Depending on local/state codes, you may need an air gap faucet however we recommend doing a quick Internet search on your local county/state plumbing codes and see if an air gap faucet is required where you live. If you plan on selling your home in years to come, it could be something that fails a purchase inspection...that’s if you install a faucet without an air gap & your county requires one... But... if your local county/state does not require an air gap faucet, we definitely recommend purchasing a faucet without an air gap as it can be very loud and annoying. Hope this helps. Hi! you mentioned that in order to install the bypass kit, you need to remove the black tube and connect the red tube to the kit. Can you please elaborate a little more? Do I disconnect the red tube from the filtration system and connect it to the bypass kit? what happens to the red tube connection at the filtration system? How do I remove the black tube from the faucet line?
@DIYwithMichaelBorders
@DIYwithMichaelBorders 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching & absolutely. This kit will alleviate the black line all together. The red line is the line that dirty water travels through and makes its way up to the airgap portion of the faucet. It then enters the black drain hose and into your main plumbing. By installing this adapter kit, the red line will feed directly into the bypass check valve and into your drain adapter where it will be flushed out via the main plumbing.

Is the red drain line pressurized, meaning can I run it uphill to the drain? I want to put in a ro system for the refrigerator in the cabinet above. It’s not like a water softener regen. It’s not a lot of pressure you might check on how far it can push the water. Also you will need an air gap at the sink. Don’t just tie it into a drain line. You can probably rig a regular dishwasher air gap to accept RO tubing then make sure you drain the air gap before the ptrap. If you already have a dishwasher airgap they make an airgap with an extra barb fitting so you can air gap both RO and dishwasher

Are you serious about the bypass kit being an issue for a house sale? Come on. You just take out the check valve (or just leave it, doesn't even matter), and you replace back the faucet to airgap IF the inspector thinks it's an issue. Also, no sane buyer will care. Are you saying that you would rather deal with the sound that spend 5-20 minutes to swap the faucet? There was no need to replace the perfectly good saddle valve, could have just used an adapter fitting, it costs $2 on aliexpress and $4 on Amazon.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders ok yes but who cares. the argument made in the video is that it will be an issue for a sale. and this is not a very good argument, because it is extremely easy to fix before the sale (replace the faucet quickly), and second no buyer will ever care. and from the perspective of food safety, you just need to make sure bad water can't get sucked back in. there are many ways of ensuring this is the case. for instance, my RO drain line goes into a sink in the basement's mechanical room, and even if there was negative pressure, it would only suck in a little bit of air and nothing else. also, IMO there is no reason to have RO under the sink. I have 2 houses and in both houses I installed RO in the basement. this makes them a lot more accessible, easier to maintain, and saves a ton of precious space under the kitchen sink.
