@@asc3designs Like anything else, it matters how you do it and when you do it. There are no absolutes in this industry. It is about reading your crowd, understanding what they want, and delivering it in the best way possible. Quick mixing is a fantastic tool to keep energy high and deliver the parts of songs they want and love. However, it is not always appropriate and is not suitable for every song.

Not a knock at Serato, it’s a great program, but I do find it a bit odd that they haven’t refined their auto-mix at all. I’ve heard it’s 🗑️. There are a ton of private event DJs that use Serato and need to step away to line up the wedding party, take care of a pressing matter, or like you said eat something during a 14 hour day. Not sure why they don’t make an update to give you guys something better.

Hey! Thanks for stopping by the channel. The first booth Danny ever made was the Infinity design. He made the Edge and Rack styles last year. I saw them at MEX (DJ show) and LOVED the redesign. Fortunately, my infinity top fits on the edge base so I only had to get the bottom part. I think the Edge is way easier to set up, and I like having two long SKB cases instead. I think if you're looking to replace your facade, the Edge L is the way to go.

How long does your full setup take? I’m about 50 minutes arrival to fully setup when using totems. I have a more standard style booth and considering a pre wired solution. That table dash would give me anxiety as well. I’ve done it but only with the couple going around.

The booth itself and speakers is only 8-10 minutes. That’s why syncing the mics, wire management, speakers, laptops, hard drives, etc. From pulling in the driveway to playing my first song… setting up ceremony with mics, cocktail hour, and reception (with lighting and totems) is an hour.

I saw your power strip/surge protector and was wondering if you use a power conditioner? I was going to buy that Furman surge protector and got bought into a Furman power conditioner. What is your opinion on power conditioner vs a good quality Furman surge protector?
@DJRachelLynch
@DJRachelLynch Жыл бұрын
I have a power conditioner inside my booth that all my electronics are plugged into. This provides additional protection to improve the quality of the power they receive. It filters out any noise or interference present in the electrical supply. They are definitely a good call. Especially, for sensitive electronics like ours. The surge protector protect I have for the base is for addedprotection against power surges or voltage spikes. It acts as an additional barrier. I think you made the right decision to get a power conditioner. It has additional layers of protection. 🙂 I have a Tripp lite in my other rack booth. I like both Furman and Tripp lite.

@@DJRachelLynch Awesome. I don't use a rack but have the furman I sit on top of the sub I have hidden under the facade table. The Furman conditioner is heavy and I wish there was a way to rig it under a Rockville rockbooth table.

Rachel, you've actually helped me with some great gear suggestions and I love how similar we are with out styles, but I actually have to disagree with one thing your'e doing here. How come you're not running everything through a mixer? I can't ever trust a controller to provide quality mic audio, and I always have the 2nd computer connected to the mixer in case anything goes wrong with the controller. For some reason I always thought you did the same thing.
@DJRachelLynch
@DJRachelLynch Жыл бұрын
If you research the Roland DJ 707M controller, it is literally designed for wedding/mobile DJs so they do not have to use an external mixer. DJ-707M features studio-quality microphone preamps with independent gain, low-cut, and noise gate on each channel. Additionally, it has individual on/off, level, three-band EQ, and effect controls with dedicated hardware effects from clean reverbs and delays to key-based auto-pitching and auto-ducking; you have total command over your vocal sounds. Not to mention you can also have up to 4 microphones with this unit. No other DJ controller offers this. There is zero need to use an external mixer with this controller. That is exactly why I bought it. Everything I used was purchased with extreme consideration and intent. “The DJ-707M leverages the DSP of Roland’s digital audio consoles to ensure you deliver the loudest, cleanest sound possible-whether it’s with your own PA system or the one already at the venue. Whatever the gig, your clients will remember great sound thanks to features that handle the unexpected, like laptop crashes, surprise guest performers, videographer feeds, and painful audio challenges such as feedback.” “When an event includes a guest musician or performer, you can easily plug them into the front-facing dual 1/4-inch jacks or 1/8-inch stereo aux input without disrupting your DJ configuration.” Definitely read more about it. 🙂 If anything goes wrong with the controller I have other backup options: VDJ internal mode connected by AUX to the EVOLVE 50. iPad with DJAY Pro Ai iPhone with premade mixes to allow me to reboot or swap out my controller for a Hercules starlight. I’ve carefully thought of my workflow and backup plans. 👌🏻

@@DJRachelLynch this is awesome info :). I appreciate you as always! I've had some issues that made me go the external mixer route, so it's great to see that there's a trustworthy controller out there. I had a DDJ 1000 that had a bad power supply and it locked me out in the last 30 minutes of a wedding, and I've always hated the way mics sounded through my controllers. I'll definitely look into this controller type if they make a version that works with Rekordbox and has controls for stems. On a side note, my good friend DJ P-Lo from Asheville told me that he got to hang out with you at DJX last month :). Hopefully I'll get there next year. I'll definitely buy you a drink or 3

Load from car to venue usually takes 10 minutes. My booth and speakers is about 8/10 minutes total with wire management, laptops/ hard drive, syncing mics, etc. Each totem with lighting adds 2 minutes. Ceremony is 6 minutes. Cocktail hour/satellite is 4 minutes. Up lighting is 5 minutes. Sound check is 2 minutes. Putting away cases/ bags 2/3 minutes depending on where I have to go. Total 40/45 minutes from the minute I pull in moving at a comfortable pace. Break down about 20 minutes.
