As told to me by a few individuals that been to the Tunnel, it was the gangs, the outlaws, that changed the vibe in the Tunnel. I was told it was a cool vibe, then it started to change. Herc probably saw the success of what was happening in the Tunnel and continued what Dj. Jb was doing. The evolution of black culture...black people, black dance!!!

Thank you for your new information and comments.. Is it possible that Kool Herc and Coke La Rock got influence by the music DJ John Brown was played and the scene at the Plaza Tunnel? Both where vist the Plaza Tunnel.
@dreval7957 Жыл бұрын
@Maurice72 , I believe so. Herc touches on that point in some interviews. Also members of the Black Spades ( Mario, Monk, Fat Mike n Bam Bam) would take that long trek from one side of the Bx to the other side of the Bx to the Tunnel to party. The dots will certainly be connected soon enough. The line of demarcation of when rnb clubs turn to hip hop will soon be narrowed down.

@Maurice572 Well if they were doing every element of Hip-hop at his parties then why weren't they Hip-hop is it because you just want to believe that Herc invented Hip-hop even though he said he didn't several times.

The Hevelow was owned by an African American man named Robert Hevelow. Robert Hevelow and businessman Thomas Ingram later purchased the Parkside Plaza in 1974.

Ehhhhhhhh, Wrong! You outsiders are so lost! The "Hevelow" was the Black dude's mispronunciation of the Puerto Rican name "Jibaro!" The club was originally owned by a Puerto Rican. Ask a real Bronx OG about that one!

@@RandomFlavor.From the Bronx, still reside in the Bronx, First generation Hip Hop...When u visit the museum, u will not only see my artifacts that ive donated, you will see my crews name on one of the flyers, as well. Dont need to ask a real OG, I am an OG. My fact check, came from individuals that knew him. Stay in your lane, young lady! In my 60's and been part of hip hop since '74. Nice try tho...Peace and Blessings.

@@dremarwil6456 So, you are going on record as stating that that "Hevelow" which was really called the "Jibaro" was not a Puerto Rican club?

@@RandomFlavor Kool Herc played after-hour events at the Parkside Plaza banquet hall, located in the Mt Eden section of the Bronx. The owner of the venue, Bob Hevelow, also owned the Hevelow on Jerome Avenue in the West Bronx, where Herc began playing regularly in 1975. Herc was introduced to Incredibly Bongo Band's “Apache” (1973) by a young B-Boy named Timmy Tim and the duplicate copy of this hard-to-find record was gifted to him at the Hevelow by B-Boy Clark Kent.

Herc was a student, not a teacher. And we didn't get no damn dances from no Russians in the 1930s we was doing all that in the 1930s and before.
