I love Standing Next to You and I think it was the best choice for the main track. This is a performance song that is meant to go big on stage with intricate choreography and funky instrumentation that gives epic MJ vibes, which is missing in today's American pop landscape. I don't think any other song in the album would allow Jungkook to showcase his singing and dancing abilities on that level. Besides the main track, my favorite songs are Closer to You, Somebody, and Shot Glass of Tears. I do not understand why some people in the comments say that this album is not JK, not his style... How does anybody know what his style is supposed to be when this is his first solo release? I personally think that these songs reflect his taste in music really well. He has stated several times that he wanted to experiment with diverse sounds, which is exactly what he does with this album. He might have not written any of these songs, but what really matters is the delivery. It's not easy to interpret someone else's song and make it your own, which he did. Overall I love the album, I think each member did a really good job at presenting their own personal colors with each release. I am just so grateful that we got all of these songs in the past year, chapter 2 so far has been an unbelievable and delightful journey for our fandom. It has been for me anyway!

His entire album is a masterpiece. I'm hard pressed to think of anyone else who could've executed these songs so perfectly. JK is a chameleon. SNTU is the first song I genuinely enjoyed from the jump. The intro gave me Earth Wind and Fire “In the Stone”vibes and I agree the melody has Warren G influence for sure. MJ all up in this too. I can't understand how did you give Standing Next to you 92 like even with your comments about it about the intro. The song would still be at least 95 ?!!! For me Standing Next to you is hands down the best song released in chapter 2, it's a grand song that showcase jungkook talent the best from vocals to choreo and performance to even the MV being visually pleasing and acting being on point ! Like, really, it's just mindblowing. It's the type of song that makes any non stan seeing it go THIS IS IT. Standing next to you is a masterpiece, and I will die on that hill lol Also some armys in these comments projecting way too much into jungkook and what he think or want. The way some of you talk like how solo stans of other members be talking and pushing narratives about the company this and that is so frustrating. This is my first reaction to this video from 5months ago :)) WhooooooooaaaaaAAAAAA!! I did not know, anybody else who liked "Closer" as much as I do from the album, I liked it from a very first listen in the promo drop, JK with a soft, natural voice laying in flowers ;) The beat, the simplicity of the looped beat, and how clean the mixing is - make this song super attractive to Me. And also JK's natural voice, without him going to modulation and falsetto, is so hot, so tender, and way more emotional to me than overdone complex, high-tone. This is a bedtime story for Me, lying down in the field or in your bed, the breeze is gently hugging your body, your lover is next to You...whispering and kissing. I also like "Somebody" and "Shot Glass of Tears" and then the rest of the album, which is excellent, incredible, and full of Lovers passion. ❤❤💜❤❤

Yeah, you were mad mad the other day. The second listen was a bit better but my opinion doesn't differ that much from the original. One thing I still have trouble with is whether to explain the good or bad first. Sometimes, I like to surprise attack people with the bad first and then tell them it's actually fantastic. But sometimes it doesn't work. It worked with durum dum dum but not with Hate You. You actually have to hear the grade to really comprehend my opinion on the song. Sometimes I stress minor issues for too long and isn't representative of what I feel.

Its mayb not a cup of tea for everyone,but criticism is need to grow. U already said that this boy had the star glow just like JT,Shawn Mendez and he equal to those artist. So i know u set the bar high for JK,ur expection is high for him cause u know what he capable of. Even in the Suchiwta,he said that his not 100% satisfied,he could done it much much better. I actually really love the opening! It got my attention right away and I knew I was listening to another JK banger. My initial reaction was that SNTU should have been the first song to be released instead of Seven cuz I loved it so much! But I understand why they did that. The genres are so completely different also, but in my opinion SNTU has a much wider appeal. Of course, our own musical tastes can vary, even in a matter of days or even mood so I understand Jino 😂 May I suggest perhaps give it a few more spins??😍😍😍

Approach every artist with an open mind and heart. There is some good in everything. Only remember that you will be judged more harshly, in accordance with the Laws of Nature. Yeah, I think it’s often the case. If a part of a song is unpredictable It can feel you’re being tricked at first because our brains seek out patterns wherever they can and it didn’t see this one coming, but once you’re in the know, once your brain has learnt this more unusual pattern and can predict it, it becomes the most satisfying and rewarding part. Not always, but if it’s well constructed despite being unusual, I think it often happens.

You're listening from a DJ ear. It's good, because we can see what a DJ can hear. The rest of us are listening to the artist telling a story, a fan ear. In a way both are butting heads. When it comes to a DJ ear the listening is one-sided. That repetition you hate for us makes what the artist is saying clear. The album is intentional and the songs are intentional. Hate you, is supposed to be stripped down, like one's emotions, emotions and pain are supposed to be raw as if someone is crying. The album is a story and you can't listen to each song separately when each one goes together.

For me really good pop artists still somehow incorporate their own unique style in the music so that when you hear the opening (with no voice) you could still guess who’ll be singing the song. One of the most obvious examples is MJ. His style is so distinct that you could easily hear when other artists use his music as an inspiration. The same thing applies to BTS songs, although their songs are multiple genres you could still recognise them is you by any chance blindly listen to their song you haven’t heard before. And I do not hear this element in Jk’s album. Something that makes me say “it’s so JK!” like it was with Taehyung for example. I mean JK’s album stands out when you compare it with albums of other members, but if you compare it with other pop singers it sounds pretty much similar to dozens of them. JK’s voice is really good but that’s it. These songs could easily end up in albums of many other American singers if given to them. The message is pretty generic with generic lyrics. So might like it though but I hoped to understand artist Jungkook better through this album. But for me personally his lives do better job in this sense than his album.

Please don't change has my heart, it was simple and catchy. Even the multiple I love yous didn't bother me😉 When it comes to the whole album, well I'm happy that he debuted. He obviously liked all songs enough to put them on the album, and im happy for him! those songs are definatelly for western radio plays and good for him, he wanted to be a pop star and thats what he is becoming. As a BTS fan I support them all in their musical journey, but it doenst mean I can't state my opinion. I am surly not one of those people who ‘know’ music, how it’s written, or produced, etc, but I do think I have good ‘ears’. So here is my take on it: Once in a while, a song or an album becomes such a huge mega hit and becomes a global sell out, period. Like MJ’s Thriller album. And I’ve been praying(?) for JK to get this one incredible song that can showcase and make his ‘golden voice’ and everything he does really shine once and for all - his special quality no one else can mimic. I know he has that but that needs a special, intelligent (cultured) producer, only a few can pull it out from the artist like JK. His voice is not just great pop voice, there is something special…when he covered ‘Falling’ by Harry that guy, a lot of armys haven’t even heard the song until then. But my god, JK’s voice… the way he sang… made most of us very emotional..even non army fans felt that I am sure. And ‘let there be love’ cover, too…see what I am getting at? I just feel this title song SNTY didn’t measure up to JK’s incredible talent, sweat and efforts he always puts into. It’s just sounds like a song American writer or producer put it together. By all means, I am NOT trying to disregard their hard work or talents either. I am just talking personally because it’s non other than JK. JK really needed one grand song that shut everyone’s mouth. I was waiting for it after seven and 3D. I even thought different producers/ song writers should work on the title song, if needed. I know and you know JK can do much more than SNTY song as a title. I mean some of older BTS b side songs are better than this I feel. Personally I am into black music and all, so, I did like genre. But it just didn’t seem it ‘maximized’ JK’s all talents I wanted him to show to the whole world. Of course, his vocal, dance, performance , just everything he did was top notch and beyond we could expect. That was why we really needed that perfect song for JK this time. I just didn’t feel that. It seems the writer and producer kind of put together supposedly hit song formula(?) and put it out there. Whether it’s k pop song or Brit or Latin songs, hit song is hit song, period. There is this awkward flow change in this song and I don’t know what to feel about it… The amount of time and effort JK puts in everything he does, he only deserves the very hit song that is at the same level of his artistry. You are very entitled aren't you? You just want bragging rights it seems. It is JK's solo debut and it did so well already , Seven is a hit no matter how west industry tried to underplay it. If it had radio points like others it would be n1 for weeks, i was n1 i 200 for weeks as well. SNTY is a banger it hits sweet spot for a lot of people who love funk and instrumental oriented music. JK voice is divine here. You want "Thriller", but "Thriller" was not debut album. Also JK was always a pop boy, he loves those type of songs, and he wanted to try various types of pop and he did it. You put your own imagined expectations on him that you are not fpr you to put on him. Only he can put expectations on himself. You can only react to the result - his album, you like it or you don't, or you like couple songs. Any reaction is valid. For me, Yes or No and Too sad to dance are not my style and if fpr example Ed Sheeran sang that songs i wouldn't listen to them second time. Cause for me "white boy pop" is not fave genre. But I would never say what JK should or shouldn't have done, cause it's not my place, even BTS members can't say that to him, and they wouldn't, cause it is his creative output and they respect it, but funny enough some fans don't respect it.

For me, personally, the album sounded like a collection of Western Pop songs that Jung Kook happened to sing. I do understand that he wanted to focus more on performance as opposed to creating his own sound & vibe like the other members, but it felt a little flat. I think part of it, is that I always expect BTS and its members to push boundaries and give me something new. This just wasn't it. It was a perfectly fine sandwich.

@@TheShadowsFearX i dont agree with op but jimin and jin both created their own songs it was only tae and jk who didnt create their own songs. and its perfectly okay since they were involved in every other aspect like choosing the songs that best fits them and expressing the emotions the songs needed etc both tae and jk are capable of making their own songs they just didnt feel like it which is perfectly okay, i think armys need to get used to allowing bts do what THEY want and stop having expectations for them. if bts want to wait 5 years to release a album solo or group they should be able to. if they wanna release music other people made they should be able to. its about choice. as long that they have the choice it shouldnt matter what they choose. we dont have to love everything they release but discrediting their involvement isnt right. writing and producing isnt the only way to make a song. they chose them and expressed them thats still being involved.

Hi Jino....ive been watching u since the first u know BTS but i rarely comment on ur reaction. I luv how honest u are with the song u react. Its mayb not a cup of tea for everyone,but criticism is need to grow. U already said that this boy had the star glow just like JT,Shawn Mendez and he equal to those artist. So i know u set the bar high for JK,ur expection is high for him cause u know what he capable of. Even in the Suchiwta,he said that his not 100% satisfied,he could done it much much better. He is perfectionist when its comes to dancing,singing and performing But like Yoongi said,its already good,he did the good work all he need now is to show the world the album and from that he will know how the listener reaction to his album and with that its gonna be better and better with the new album that i hope coming in the future FYI: i havent even watch ur reaction but the comment section is really crazy here 😅
