While I do respect the skills, I find zero enjoyment in listening to scratching or other super cool dj skills. I only listen to Techno at parties and all we care about are a solid trackselection and smooth transitions which are not over the top. Hiphop, house and EDM sure have other requirements but I am not interested in learning any of them, including scratching, since I just don’t enjoy the music.

Well, it’s not for everyone. When it comes to music, everyone will have different tastes and styles. Most DJ’s online will display a cool short session such as what you talked about. Sounds like you probably would enjoy listening to my boy DJ Giorgio Prezioso. 👍🏻

Might as well listen to a pre-mixed CD if you're not into actual DJ skills. Any DJ who does scratching, needle dropping and other "hip hop" DJing skills are superior in every way to EDM DJs, and that is from someone who used to love EDM/house music. Beat matching fluently can be learned in a few hours, and most EDM is designed to make this as easy as possible. Scratching and needle dropping fluidly takes months to learn, if ever for some people.

How could you not listen to a pre-recorded hiphop set? Come on that argument doesn’t make any sense.

djing and turntablism are two differnt things...djs like you mention do some transitions and thats it....while turntablism is about using the turntable as an instrument..

You should check out some albums though qbert and D styles album are made entirely from scratching and are amazing for psychedelic ... Here is the thing though you could learn to scratch and then make techno tracks from it ... scratching isn't just ahhh samples being done over a beat it can be the whole track you can scratch drums , bass , leads , FX , vocal and whatever else you want and do whatever genre you want

You say that.but scratching doesn’t go with all types of music.if you listen to boris Brecha he doesn’t scratch.if you listen to many dj set playing progressive house and melodic techno you will hardly hear Someone scratching.it’s essential with hip hop and hardcore d&b ect.but with some types of music it’s not necessary.I don’t hear James hype scratching.but that doesn’t mean he’s not a dj.some people like it,and others don’t

My apologies if you took this sample literally. All you see here is a scratch sample being used. The scratch sample should not be taken as fact. It’s just for pure entertainment purposes. With that being said, I consider myself an electronic dance DJ who so happens to have a passion for the art of scratching. I use this skill to add extra flare to my live set, just not as much like in this video.

a REAL DJ is a DJ who can beat-match. being able to scratch isn’t being a DJ. Being a DJ means you can beat-match songs together, scratching is just something to learn in the process. this is coming from a beginner.

I thought this conversation died after my other posts on here. Problem here is that people are taking the sample I used “literally”. Yes, you are correct in all of your statements. This is my Scratch channel where I simply scratch to many different samples for pure entertainment purposes only. Nothing here should be taken factual.

The track that sample comes from is hip hop track ...hip hop DJs are expected to scratch it's part of the culture
