Great Solution! BUT... Everyone has been sleeping on the Samson Expedition Rechargeable Series. I've had the 6" for over a year and its great, but I needed more volume for larger ceremonies over 60 people. They just released a 10" and 12" version. I have the 10" and it's loud with great sound quality. It provides 10+ hours of batter life. It's bluetooth enabled. Plus it has a wireless mic built in with the option to expand to 3 mics. 300ft range on the built in mic. The only gripe I have is that the mixer is on the top of the speaker. So... if you have it on a speaker stand you've got to be 6ft tall to reach and adjust the volume knobs by touch. www.samsontech.com/samson/products/portable-pa/expedition-rechargable/
Have you used it since your video, if so how did it perform?

@DJMannyC3 жыл бұрын
John, I know this post is 2 years old, but please help me out here... What am I missing from this equation? The HALO Bolt yields 58830 milliwatt hours of power. For simplicity, we’ll convert that to 58.83 watt hours. That means that it can power something that pulls 58 watts, for up to one hour before it runs out of juice. In order to double that run time and get 2 hours of use, you’d have to be running something that only pulls 29 watts (half of 58). So how in the world can you be running a fairly powerful speaker (even at only moderate volume) AND a wireless mic receiver and only be pulling 29 watts??? Surely, that speaker draws way more than that. I’m confused. How is this even possible??
@kylecupp69642 жыл бұрын
Hi I came across this video back in June of this year. I purchased the halo bolt 58830 for my small ceremony system. Just wondering if you or anyone else has had this problem. Thank you

It is a good solution for some people and situations. Thank you very much for showing us this. You're doing all of us a great service as usual.
@theteenageengineer3 жыл бұрын
You could also build your own battery system. You can take an old flight case or rack and get a couple 12 volt car batteries, put them in parallel and get a 1000 watt or 2000 watt inverter, just make sure its a pure sin wave and not modified, because you could destroy your equipment with a modified sin wave inverter and you are pretty much set. If you want it to look really nice though I would suggest the rack method, because then you can make a custom front panel where you can have a few outlets you wire into the inverter and maybe some breakers and a charge port, and you can use a normal lead acid 12 volt battery charger.

Hello all, I am not the most knowledgable about things but I research a lot before I make a purchase. While studying up on this product I found out that the marketing that the company does for this product is a little misleading. The product for most seems to be a 58,000+ Mah power bank; however it isn’t. They have actually placed the proper amount in plain sight ... it is a 58,000+ Mwh power bank that if converted to Mah would actually be a less than 18,000 Mah power bank ( which I already have a bunch of those around my home ). I will admit this product does have interesting features but still tries to fool you with actually how much power it holds. This is not at all a hit or dis on John; I absolutely love this guy, what he does, and the content he puts out. I just wanted to make sure all were informed properly. Keep doing what your doing. You keep putting stuff out and I’ll keep watching.

Had the highest mah rating I could find and a lot of reviews said they actually used it successfully to jump their car! It's been sitting in my saved for later items because I wasn't sure how effective it'd be for powering a speaker, but this video may have sold me on it. Great video. Couldn't agree more about those damn whisper generators. They're noisy, stink up the car and I usually spend half the gig chasing kids away from them. Instead I've been playing my gigs with the Aeiusny UPS-500AD. It cost about $300 on Amazon and holds 500Whs. A typical ceremony like you described brings it down to about 80%. After the ceremony I'll charge it up during dinner and use it to run my lighting tree. Saves me a lot of time and tape and lasts about 6 hours with 4 LEDs and 2 lasers. A couple months ago i hooked it up to a 60 watt solar panel and played an outdoor gig. After 4 hours of powering my deck, laptop, wireless mic and 2 Yamaha stagepas 300s. The battery was still at around 30%. This thing is probably the best DJ purchase I've made all year. With the whisper generators costing $50/day to rent this thing paid for itself and then some within the first few months.

@@stevennorman2043 it runs my setup of to Yamaha stagepas 400i, numark 4trak mixer, and a Dell laptop for about two hours. I don't know how that relates to your setup, but suggest that before you use any battery check your setup with a voltage meter to see how much power it is drawing

I bought one hoping for a solution for lakeside ceremonies with no power. this seemed perfect. I couldn't get mine to work. Speaker powers on for 1 sec then shuts down (red light blinking showing overload) didn't even get a chance to try audio. notice on the outlet it says 65w max how did you get yours to work? (running a QSC K8.2)
@brianb33323 жыл бұрын
guess i should've read down a little deeper in the comments before purchasing. I see that it does not work with QSC speakers... bummer guess it can go under the car seat and use to jump off a car, as it was originally intended for :(

Where did you get the shelf for the speaker pole? What is model and model number?

I have been told that it doesn’t work for QSC gear.

Try the Jackery 240. My dj buddy in Dallas runs 2 K8's with it. I use it for my Jbl eon 610 for ceremonies. I can do about 3 to 4 ceremonies before needing to recharge. I have torture tested it with 2 prx815, mac book pro and controller. Worked flawless.

John, I landed on your channel for a DMX tutorial a few hours ago and I've been watching all your vids since. I totally love the way you communicate, and the way you treat your people. The paycheck segment for your young guy was great. Question: For your extended off-shore power gigs, why not consider a deep cell battery? Or two? The Bolt is amazing, but its only 58 amps. One single deep cycle battery can provide 125 amps. My solar security lighting is 250 amps. And you can take a huge amount of power out without cooking it.
@chrisperry35252 жыл бұрын
do you know how heave one of those batts are? And not much cheaper than the bolt
@seanwhite75322 жыл бұрын
@@chrisperry3525 I do. Both of my 125 AH batteries died this year after a little over 5 years time. They are def boat anchors

@@seanwhite7532 I have 2 also in my van with a solar panel and 2 inverters. But I have to run a cord from the van. If this 3lb halo will work, it means less work!!

FYI.....Its also a wireless phone charger. It also can hold a full charge for 2 years of not being used.

Do you thing that I can plug my 2 Pionner CDJ 700 and DJM 450 mixer? My idea is to buy 2 Halos 1 for the speaker and 1 for cdj’s and mixer. Thanks in advance! Max

Nice and you are a great speaker, but wish that thing lasted at least 4 hours so it can be used to charge stuffs like powered speakers and charge the halo itself
@garethsiegel46185 жыл бұрын
I wonder if it would be feasible to use a UPS for battery powered rigs. It would be heavier but last a lot longer.

Can this run a pioneer xdj and some speakers?
@jpayne80965 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Been looking for a cheap battery powered rig for ceremonies, but like you say, use what ya got.... gonna get one of these.... I got speakers! Thanks for the info. The only question I have is in wondering about charge cycles and battery life duration. But even at that price, if I get 50 ceremonies out of it, it more than pays for itself.

Bought the same exact model, and it can't even power up my measly Behringer B212d powered speaker. Might be good enough to power a wireless mic receiver, and a tablet, but that's about it.

Thumbs up from your neighbor in Tennessee! When considering letting it sit for half a day, heat and natural degradation as it ages as well as other unforeseen factors, I would definitely always pack a spare. This is just good "best practices" regardless. Ps - You guys are welcome to annex Memphis. It would improve both our states.

U think it would be safe to plugin a power strip into the ac port of the halo bolt so i can plugin my 41w pioneer dj rx2 and my 100w numark monitors
@DjWooPig3 жыл бұрын
Doubt it would power all of that at the same time.
