Hermes is god of Messangers, thieves, travelers and a few other things. Beyond that, he is both Ody's great-grandfather or grandfather, and the biggest troll of olympus. He is helping Ody simply for the chaos, beyond him being an adventurer/traveler right now and related to him. To give you an idea of his Chaotic Neutral nature, Hermes helped Ody and also warned Circe of what he did and Ody coming, hence her knowing. He legit just wants the drama lol He is well known for just randomly helping or trolling adventurers (demi-god or not) for the kicks.

My rationale for why Ody told her about the Moly is that he's trying to not fight her. If all of her power comes from her ability to cast a spell on him and he says "Don't even bother. I'm immune" then maybe he can get her to give in without him having to actually draw his blade at all. Of course it steal leads into his hubris and not understanding what he's up against because Circe can do a lot more than just turning him into a pig, but I always figured that his bragging was just trying to make her back down before a fight even started
@Zayber1293 күн бұрын
Agreed! I think it was his way of leading with open arms, just saying you can’t hurt me how about we talk this out before this turns into a fight

Fun fact, the plant Moly was created when a Giant (not a Cyclops) fled from the battle between the gods and giants and tried to chase Circe off her island. Only for her father the god of the Sun, Helios, to kill him in retaliation. Moly is unable to be plucked from the ground by mortals but its never explained why. Its safe to assume that because Giants are the spawn of Gaia and Uranus a flower+root born from their blood is simply impossible to pull from the ground because Gaia just won't let you separate her from what remains of her offspring even after death. 🤔 thats just a theory though!

We were talking about instrument battle in the song- Odysseus’ electric guitar vs Circe’s strings. Notice how, as soon as Circe started her narrative, and “persuasion”, at the end, the electric guitar is _nowhere_ to be heard. With a sword at her throat, Circe pulled all the power back into her hands.
@TheParagade28 күн бұрын
Also, when Circe and Odysseus are having their back and forth, their respective instruments come to the fore, but after he reveals he took the Moly, the guitars stay prominent when she responds, showing how he has taken control of the interaction

Jorge sometimes requests artists to make official animatics for some parts/songs. One of the first songs this happend was actually Done For, which includes the Cyclops-Chimera fight. In this video he explains all the reasons behind it! kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4iYqqWMp857Y68si=uJdycscWC3uXYl_5 Basically, the Cyclops is the monster Odysseus is knows the best
@Ansixilus27 күн бұрын
Fun fact about the idea that "men are pigs": this part of the Odyssey is basically the first ever literary connection there. You could say the idea, as something discrete enough to iterate on, originated here. About the Moley and Hermes' warning, it's not specified why mortals cannot pull moley from the ground but that it's not a problem "for the deathless gods", which implies that harvesting it would kill a mortal. Once harvested it's not inherently dangerous to mortals. Hermes warned that Ody might die simply because the moley leveled the playing field, it didn't assure victory; thus, Ody would be going into a life or death battle, but with winnable odds.

There’s just a lot of character choices I love in that animatic. Anyway, genuinely adore the harmonies in this one, as well as that beat. I also just enjoy that we see that Ody and Circe’s motivation is the same. They’re both just trying to protect the people important to them.

In fact, if I remember correctly, I am not sure at all.but I think Circe is the daughter or granddaughter of the titan Helios, if you look closely at the animation of Anniflamma she has a sun on her dress that represents him in addition to her eyes and ears so to speak when I use his powers at the beginning they were yellow too (if I'm wrong please correct me, sorry English is not my first language)

not really. Circe doesn't strip In There Are Other Ways lol
@Miden0528 күн бұрын
More than the strip, I was thinking about how it makes it clear that both are uncomfortable. Odysseus's painful expression and Circe's resentful expression while she seduces him expresses, in my opinion, the whole theme of the musical: what we are willing to do for those we love and what we become. . Odysseus in the end remains faithful, tempted but faithful... and as much as I love Gigi's works I didn't see enough temptation in his animatic, Odysseus seemed very reluctant from the beginning... almost angry and confused rather than tempted and guilty .
@RacketEPIC28 күн бұрын
@@Miden05 fair enough i suppose, personally speaking, i don't think Circe would "look" uncomfortable visually (tho, deep down, she would) Regardless, i do understand what you mean, but I'd like to correct you on stuff, first off, the main theme of the musical isn't actually "when does a man become a monster" it's "Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves" and secondly, Gigi is female, she uses she/her regardless, i still find Gigi's animatic better, frankly because the "post seduction" section of the song is far better, There are Other Ways isn't just Circe seducing Odysseus, it's Odysseus gaining Circe's assistance, and Gigi's animatic does that far better in my opinion, especially the section telling about the Underworld

Pretty sure Odysseus summons the Cyclops because it's so far the most terrifying an powerful creature that ISN'T a god he has witnessed the power of on his journey. He had not lost a single man of his crew UNTIL they faced the cyclops, so it makes sense that he left a huge impression on him. PLUS, Hermes told Ody that "all you need is imagination", Ody can most definitely accurately imagine a cyclops if he was traumatized by it......

Hermes is the son of Zeus and a minor goddess I can't remember the name of for the life of me. So this would make Poseidon his uncle, since Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Demeter, Hiesta, and Hera are all siblings, Zeus being the youngest of the big 6. Aphrodite is more like a great aunt? Her birth was weird so it's hard to pinpoint her relation to the pantheon. This would also mean Athena, Apollo, and literally all of Zeus' offspring are his half-siblings.
