When the song began and the drop came I was like "Oh yeeesss, that sounds like LINKIN PARK" ❤ Born in 1983, I was 17 when Hybrid Theory came out, so a fan since the beginning and I was so anxious about the new Linkin Park 2.0 and Emily crushed it 🎉 When she started singing I got so emotional 😢 I'm so happy and excited for the new LP era 🫶🏻 P.S. I think Chester would be very proud of all of them for opening a new page in the book ❤

Hey, loved your reaction! I honestly never were a big LP-fan. I liked and listened to a few of their songs, they were always there in the background. I might be a little too old for their demographic. In the recent years I haven’t even checked out a lot of new music. But this! I have been obsessing over this song. I think it’s absolutely amazing. It hits me in the feels immediately, it feels relevant for our time, and Emily absolutely kills it! She’s amazing, and sounds soo good together with Mike. The production and the structure of the song is fantastic, and I also love the video. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!

Emily used to be the lead singer in Dead Sara. Collin (the new drummer) used to be writer, composer, producer, etc for a lot of bands, such as Papa Roach, From Ashes to New, A Day to Remember, and ONE OK ROCK. He also performed some vocal work in the League of Legends soundtrack. Both are excellent. The 'everyone alone' clips are the band. Mike is painting, Phoenix is the office guy, Mr. Hahn is the restaurant guy, Collin is the guy on the couch with the VR rig, and Brad is the parcel delivery guy, and Emily is the woman vacuuming her rug/seated at the bar. Interesting note: the first time we get a really good look at Emily's face is when Mike hands her a drink and she mouths the word 'thanks.'

Structurally, this song is pretty similar to Given Up, but with the repeating bridge and chorus, as well as the talk-singing stylings, of a song like Breaking the Habit. All in a much more alt-rock style like What I've Done. I'd call it perfectly distilled Linkin Park. All it's really 'missing' is the rap of Nu Metal, haha. I like it too.

Instinctly you feel the LP DNA right in the beginning and hope for more, but Mike lets you wait a bit. It takes a minor/major and 1-4/1-5 change until Emily kicks in and again you want more until salvation, the chorus. But there is more, the bridge, and it comes in two parts, Mike and Emily (later in the background of the final chorus too, of course!). Lyrics and video are awesome, made from one piece - now I can describe what was missing over the last 7 years.

This is easily the most profound breakdown of the song and video I've seen -- as a full-time content creator and people-pleaser, it's like an arrow right through my core, but I still missed some stuff you pointed out, like how the band members were being zapped into each other's positions to show how they're so different, yet feeling the same. Beautiful reaction 💖

They're real fans.. just for the wrong reasons. I've learned over my 42 years on this earth, is that there are people who make thier personal struggles a core part of thier identities. Chester was a solid anchor in that identity for them. With no other identity, they feel like they are nothing without thier struggles. This change threatens the very center of that identity of such a fan. I've struggled myself throughout my life, and there are times that I could see myself as having been one of these hating fans. I have empathy for them, and I hope they are able to break free of thier cycle. But.. you also have to keep healthy distance, for they can definitely be called emptiness machines themselves.

I wouldn't say I'm a fan of LP, I like Hybrid Theory and handful of songs since because I've never really been into Chester being the lead. I liked him as the chorus/bridge guy while Mike handled the verses. Didn't care for her performing the old songs in the live show but I am interested in hearing what she was involved in creating with the band because I do like her voice more than Chester's to be honest. Girls with a bit of raspiness along with a good singing voice do catch my attention, so im going into this album with a positive outlook and reserving judgement for when I finally listen to it all. The gungho fans who are really excited for From Zero should take it easy on bashing the fans who are resistant to the change. I've seen it get ugly in many cases where a fanbase will turn other fans against bands entirely where if they were allowed to be repeatedly exposed to the new stuff over time they'd might actually warm up to it instead of doing a 180 with no chance that they'll return because of the toxic fanbase who gets offended by other fans expressing their opinions.

the only negative thing i can really point out about emily is that she may still be a scientologist which wouldn't be a great look for the band itself considering scientology itself, HOWEVER! she has an amazing vocal range and this song felt very linkin park when i first heard it and i am so happy to have them make new music, this song has already got into my top 10 linkin park songs of all time

Emily is awesome! I’ve been listening to her in Dead Sara for years. I was beyond thrilled when she walked on stage during the live event and started singing. In regard to the Scientology thing… it’s something she really can’t address publicly without running the risk of being cut off from her entire family or putting a target on her and/or her family’s backs.

She's also openly gay, which if you know anything about that religion that is 100% not allowed. Her parents are Scientologists. She was raised in it, cannot fault someone for being raised in a religion. She is probably fully out now but very quiet about it to protect her family.
@DirtyMikeTM3 ай бұрын
Scientology huh? What about Tom Cruise movies or John Travolta movies? Do you feel the same way towards them?
@LeeB413 ай бұрын
From what I understand she has distanced herself from Scientology. Plus; in my opinion, a person's beliefs should have nothing to do with their talent. But I do understand how that belief could be an issue; especially with this band and Chester. Also; just my interpretation here...listen to the lyrics. I believe this song IS about Scientology and how toxic it can be. "There's a fire under the altar; I keep on lying to. Already pulling me in. Already under my skin." "I only wanted to be part of something..." "Falling for the promise of the emptiness machine."

Ok I'm gonna start off by saying that if you like the new stuff more power to you. If you are able to separate the music from the artist you are stronger than I am. That being said, I can not and will not support any of the new music until Emily comes out with a statement agaist the awful and morably objectionable things that he religion stands for. Scientology rejects the ideas of psychiatric medicine and mental health care. These are things that cannot be ignored.
