I know how to back a trailer, but I’ve never heard this advice. I’m putting this on the back burner for some rookie in the future.
@spitzer1113 Жыл бұрын
Proper depth on the trailer is the key. So many people don't spend the time to figure that out. It will save a lot of hassle and possible damage if you can figure that out.
@Ray56z Жыл бұрын
This ramp is a little steeper by several degrees than most, actually is easier to load being this steep once one figures it out. It does change your marks if you've gotten use to them on less steep ramps. Personally, my favorite ramp is about the same degree as this. With the smaller boat I can launch/load with the short tongue and not even get the rear tire saltwater wet, nor the full tongue, wiring. My friends favorite ramp, with my smaller boat I stop with the water under the front of the door frame. His tongue is ridiculously long though. His 19' skiff trailer is 4' longer than mine for the KW263, or his dads Kl 26'.

It's so interesting watching these videos. Love the channel man just subbed. I have to say as a boat owner for 3 years why don't people take the time to learn how to trailer the boat. Ask a buddy to show you, watch some KZbin videos, and take your time. Before I launched my boat for the first time I had a very experienced buddy show me how to launch and recover my boat 4 times before attempting it. Biggest things I've learned take your time and think through the whole process, even make a check list if you need to. Thanks for doing this man. It helps a TON to have a resource like this to continue learning how to operate safely.

Hey Big Dan - Tip from Canada on backing trailer up - - Put your hand palm facing down but on bottom of steering wheel, then move your hand in the direction you want the trailer to go.....Just as if you were backing up without a trailer and your hand on top of wheel. Taught many a newbie that way and usually works out eventually :)

I feel like im doing things wrong after seeing so many people power drive up there boat. Although certain boat launches in Michigan dont allow it. Ive only owned my 21-foot boat for one season. Launched and retrieved over 20 times. But never had the problems these people have. We approach the dock. I slowly creep in. My girl and i reach for the posts and hold the boat steady. She gets out on the dock with the rope connected to the bow eyelet. Wraps it once around a post near the front. Then i get out to go get the trailer while she simply hold the back of the boat in place. I pull in fenders and tips of bunks at top of water. Get out. My girl tosses me the rope from the dock. I physically pull the boat on the bunks till it stops about a foot or 2 from the winch. Strap it up. Then whench it up tight. Pull out slowly. If my trailer is close. The process takes no more than 60 seconds. Idk..... please tell me if im doing something wrong. I do get my ankle wet just to pull the rope in. But never had a problem so i stuck with it. About to winterize next week.
@TheBigDanShow Жыл бұрын
Nice. Nothing wrong with that if it works for you. Power loading is a thing of the south. It’s just what we do round here and it works. It’s quick and effective.
@kevinrivard3875 Жыл бұрын
@DJares3 I was told that is why the dock area always gets screwed up and needs to be dredged out. Because power loading pushes the lake floor to other sides and makes it shallower in other areas. Haven't been boating for long. But seen videos about it and it kinda made sense. Especially seeing your drone videos. It looks like a muddy swamp in Louisiana. 🤣
