I’ve done large crowds like 9k for state event to starting clubs with like 50 ppl building them to like 1k plus three nights a week. Your channel has me really going in different directions now. Much respect buddy. I bought you scratch course because I never did much scratching. Bout to see where this takes me. I’ll probably Dj till I die. lol.

That's cool. I started in the early 80s. I made mix tapes with a soundesign double deck and sing turntable stereo that my mom bought for me at Kmart. I made so many mix tapes and saved enough to buy a mixer and two 1200's and then came all the vinyl and more vinyl. You get the idea...crates of vinyl. Nice video. As a starting DJ I have to say the best way to start DJing is probably just play around and try to mix so ga to begin with. Almost every point you made are things I found out by just messing around. For me, it makes it much harder when I approach it like a study and the problems and answers are told. But that's my advice to other starting DJ's. Useful content nonetheless!

Hi, great video as always but im confused on one part. At 16:02 you say that 130 bpm is needed to transition to 174, but then you show a clip where its 130 to 87?? You never explain this and im quite confused as you show an example that doesn't make sense with what you said.
@djcarlo3 ай бұрын
Ah! That's actually more detailed in the full House to DnB tutorial elsewhere on the channel (check it out!). 87 is 1/2 of 174, so both BPMs work with the 3/4 transitions from 130.5. If you play a track that's 87 BPM with a track at 174, you'll see that they will play in sync with each other

Hey Carlo Can you explain why you mix 130 bpm with 87 bpm? This is a half of 174 BPM and If I undestand we can mix with a halfs like 140 with 70, 160 with 80.
@djcarlo5 ай бұрын
Make sure to watch the last part very closely because we have to apply math to do a transition between 130 to 87. There’s a formula there on how to get it right. But yes, we can transition from 160 to 80 or 65 to 130 as they are half numbers!
@derQus5 ай бұрын
@@djcarlo I watched the ending but I still don't understand where 87bpm came from, since the formula is 130 divided by 0.75 gives 174 bpm, should I understand that 174 bpm is the same as half of 174, i.e. 87 bpm? so we can make this transition from 130 to 87 and also to 174 bpm, right?
@djcarlo5 ай бұрын
Yes, absolutely! Since 87 is half of 174, both are applicable BPMs to mix to when it comes to that 3/4 loop trick. So you can go to either Dnb or Hip Hop should you please 🥳
@avgytenjoyer915 ай бұрын
2 things, 1 I'm not using software to tell me when to mix, that's to be determined live. Second how does Skrillex use ColorFX on CDJs? A lot of times you give tips on using these techniques in the software but completely ignore how to do them in a club with CDJ's and a USB stick. I know some things can't be done on CDJ's like stems but I would really appreciate if in future videos you also cover how to perform these techniques on pro gear as well or at least provide a work around. I love your stuff man but some of us might already be playing in clubs on pro gear but still want to step up our game by watching your videos, and it's almost useless to learn these on a flx4. P.S. I do have a flx4 but I also have a DDJ-XZ in my studio as well so I basically practice on a pro set up. P.P.S the sync trick is one of my favorites, it shows that these tools can be used creatively. It's so nice to control both tracks BPM with one fader, I did this trick a few weeks ago at the biggest show I've played so far which was on 4 CDJ 3000's and a JBL 8 piece line array with 8 FOH subs, and SUB 3 stacks on stage as monitors, it was so dope!!
@djcarlo5 ай бұрын
Skrillex uses the color FX available on certain mixers, like the DJM 900 nexus. Just gotta check which models your venues have! And the cue points are just a guide really. You can opt to not use them, and go live, just like what we've all been doing! I'd like to think of the cue points are training wheels for those who are new to DJing 😊

In future videos that you have a full sentence could you maybe leave it up on the screen longer? There’s not enough time to process and YEAH I know I can rewind it but it really makes your videos and learning process unenjoyable when you have great content… I also don’t read slow and have 3 degrees… we just need a couple more seconds plz…
@djcarlo2 ай бұрын
I'll keep that in mind for future videos. I leave them up for as long as I'm talking, and i thought I was going at a pretty steady pace already for this video. Thanks for the feedback!

Hey man really useful vid!! Question: For the last technique with the 3/4 roll transition, you say that you have to use the formula and then mix for example track from 90 BPM to 120 BPM. But in all your examples you are mixing tracks to lower BPM than the current one (For example 130 BPM to 90). Am i missing something ?
@djcarlo4 ай бұрын
Just a little more math! 90 is 180 half timed, so you can mix to 3/4 of 180, which is 120. 120 is also 4/3 of 90, so it works that way by some mathematical properties whose names I forget (transitive?, or something)
@DJBillySlick5 ай бұрын
What DnB is 87 BPM? Am I missing something, or are the numbers in the video wrong?
@djcarlo5 ай бұрын
Theyre technically wrong haha. Many DJ programs only read to 140bpm, so you'll need to manually double time the song beyond that. Lots of 141 and up are read at 70.5 etc

Why nobody write songs name? How beginners should try tequenics without these tracks? Anyway thanks for these advices
@djcarlo3 ай бұрын
I actually encourage beginners to learn with their own tracks, so you familiarize yourself with the music you want to play. Only challenge is figuring out which parts to use, but thats part of preparing your music as well 🥳

Hi Dj Darlo, I've been watching a lot of your videos, and have a Denon SC Live 2 which has Serato DJ Pro. With the 3/4 loop, in another video, you mentioned that 1/2 may be used too although this may be out of date now. Does Serato have a 3/4 loop? Also, if you engage the 3/4 loop on a sonically suitably point, if the songs are not beat matched, how are you figuring out when to start the next song so it is in time?
@djcarlo5 ай бұрын
Check out my House to Dnb video for the full explanation Daniel! Serato does, technically, but it's in the Looper FX. That's also explained in that video. 1/2 can be used only if you're half-timing or double timing your mixes. The 3/4 one is something completely different
