Longer wheelbase means better high speed on and off road, as well as an exponentially higher towing capacity. The extra row alone can add 3-5,000 lbs onto the towing capacity.

Trucks nowadays prioritize a bunch of heavy and cheap “features” and interior space over the actual performance of the vehicle. If dodge and ford wanted to make the best performance trucks they would shorten the cab and remove all the extra interior crap that they pack in these.

@@HOLAATODOS-os5te i wouldn't trust a Raptor to go over a speed bump... i'm sure its a good off road truck but i don't want to take the chance to find out, its the same with Range Rovers ppl always say they they best off road trucks and i'm sure it is but i also don't want to take the chance to find out.... the Raptor is made for posers, most of the time i see a Raptor is all kitted out with off road accessories but its always parked outside a bar, club, restaurant always clean...

Little Toyotas HiLux Pickups in the creek behind him will have no problem climbing out of creek up that hill. I know, I have one. Ford Raptor Pickup is not made for tight off road trails, but for hauling Ass on open, wide dirt roads.

@@johicks1358 it’s not a brand issue, the tacos have a short wheelbase. Trying to take that raptor up that hill is like trying to circuit race a dragster, ain’t gonna work. Those raptors are badass in Baja-style racing

To be honest, this isn’t the terrain that the Raptor was built for. It is made to travel at high speeds over more desert like terrain, not for climbing up muddy hills. Its gearing and suspension isn’t set up for this. And this is coming from a Mopar fan that loves to make fun of Fords.

Oh, I put my brother’s Raptor to the test when he had a hunting accident and I had to get his truck as close as possible to him. There was no log, rock or sagebrush too big that I couldn’t get past to get his truck near him. It would have been a long haul about 1/2 mile uphill that would’ve put a toll on the paramedics, EMTs and Sheriff and us to carry him to the ambulance. The truck saved a lot of time and exhaustion up hill to the road. It wasn’t ideal for life flight to land where he was so we brought him to the LZ.

@@phantom0456 He’s good now, except for severe bouts of shocking phantom pain that’s been with him for the past 8 years due to having to get the lower part of his leg and foot amputated. No Dick Cheney present, although he does tell people he’s shot a man before, but has to confess he was the one shooting himself in the foot. Freak accident that it went off trying to climb over a fence. A 300 Win Mag at point blank will obliterate your ankle!

He’s not wrong. Our modern 4x4s are big and clunky. They’re made to sell to the “tough guys” crowd. They’re luxury wannabe trucks. Modern diesels have become great for hauling, but lets not kid ourselves the high value truck market is about a look more then being useful for work and roughing the unplanned terrains.

People take videos of trucks like this all the time, fords, Toyotas, jeeps, Chevy etc but it’s not a fail it’s just part of off-reading. I’d say maybe some better tires and some more airing down and probably a better line to pick would be best bet but it’s just a learning opportunity. The problem with raptors is their “Baja” style trucks so it’s more about ride and stance than it is approach angle and wheel base like with a midsize pickup
