In theory it makes sense, GC controllers have 3 required data lines (4 if you want rumble). A TRRS audio jack has 4 conductors which means you can simply get a GC extension cord and solder the wires to a male TRRS like shown here

yeah lol the board is like 40% empty space and 20% ports you don't need, then you replace the power circuit with a way smaller and more efficient one and all you need to keep is the cpu, gpu, ram and nand flash which are all right next to each other

I so wanted one until I saw this. 1K dollars is just too much and shipping might not be too much but definitely quite a hassle if done by conventional mail. Then there's the fact that conversion will screw me over so yeah, I don't want one anymore.

Interesting idea... But its just a trimmed wii mobo, so I don't think they would be compatible. Probably the best you could do is make a mock a GB player attachment by using a cart flasher to dump the cart save files to the SD. I feel like that's potentially possible, but certainly would require some programming to accomplish on the Nano. That, and you wouldn't actually be playing the cart either... You'd just be emulating with a rom dump.
