Going to see him this weekend Apr. 12, 2014 in Ft. Worth, TX. This will be the first time I've seen him since 1976! He played a Sheriff's Posse Rodeo concert here in Austin, TX. back then. Johnny Rodrigues was THE FIRST person I ever saw in concert, he came to the Mid South Coliseum in Memphis I think it was 1972??? My mother was head over heels about him...so glad to see he is still out there and doing well.

I heard Johnny tell the story many yrs ago that Lefty and Whitey Shaefer wrote it for him. He recorded it in the mid 70's and Merle did many years later in the late 80"s .......
