nonsense !in the early to mid seventies you couldn't turn on a country station without hearing one of his songs or turn the tv on a variety show and see him..he was honored by 3 presidents ...performed at gw bush's inauguration ..i dont see him as having been underrated in his heyday !
@evalehde3869 Жыл бұрын
@@davediamond7228yes I agree. Click on any older country song and at least one person will say they were underrated.

I’ve loved all the music Johnny Rodriguez has ever put out. While very simplistic in his wordage of the songs he wrote. There was so much meaning in every way imaginable! Thank you for being the great artist you were for country music.

This song playing on an a.m. radio in a 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner driving down a country road introduced me to the great Johnny Rodriguez way back in 1973. Fifty years later I am still listening to his music and still loving it. Long live Johnny's beautiful music.

One of the best country singers ever. Tragedy he allowed alcohol to destroy his career. Miss you, Johnny.

I was at TEXAS Ranger Joaquin Jackson's house in Uvalde, Texas one time when I was young. Johnny Rodriguez was in town and came by to visit. Ranger Jackson had a six string guitar that Rodriguez borrowed. He performed several songs in the living room No mikes No amplifiers My God, what a beautiful voice I'll never forget that

I went to school with this gorgeous hunk in Sabinal, TX, in 1969, I've seen him in concert three times, and give me the opportunity and I'll go see him again. Talk about the crush I had on him! If he ever looked my way, I would blush. Oh, that doggone shyness I had at age 15. If I had it to do again, I'd push that shyness aside and go after this darling man!

Maybe he was put to the side by one thing and one thing only because he was a great singer maybe better then some American or Texan or any country performer just because he was Mexican.
