Any USB adapter also works, you just have to use the correct mic or adapter. For instance all the adapters are TRRS so if you have a TRS analog mic you have to use a TRRS to TRS adapter. The one thing I have not been able to get to work is an adapter that has power and a mic input. They only work with one or the other not both at the same time. however it seems it can be don as a certain USB C switch can power the Action 2 and provide a mic input at the same time.

The screen on the camera module can be turned off. In settings you need to select the screen time after pression REC. 5 secs is the minimum time

External mics - you haven't been keeping up with my channel, have you! :) Or discussions and tests on the DJI forum. You can use it with a simple audio technica interface for mic in and headphone out, and it can be used with Zoom recorders acting as an audio interface. Tests continue... but it's actually very capable in this department. Charging etc - the system works on the basis that when the two modules are connected, the screen module battery is used first, then the camera module battery. If you use the camera module on its own, then the screen module will replenish it. Really, there would be no other way of doing it, as there's no point in having power left in the screen module (which does nothing on its own) and not in the camera module. Note that there are known bugs in this area at present and DJI are working to fix them (eg, when you power off the system it actually goes into a sleep mode and not into shutdown, and there's constant battery drain when the system is not in use). Internal mics - no, there is only one mic on the main module at its bottom right corner. The other hole is a "pressure relief hole" or something like that, as illustrated in the manual. I'm pretty sure from my use that wind noise reduction is turned on when the camera is used on its own, but indeed there's no setting. Luckily in the absence of wind, the DJI wind reduction system does not noticably mess with the audio, unlike in some cameras. Indeed, making a slow motion video of yourself talking would be... unusual. I am interested that with your accent (UK) you can see the option to run it at a higher temperature. That means that either you are not in the UK (same as me - I have a London accent but I live in Melbourne!) or you haven't updated the firmware, as compliance with EU regulations concerning camera temperatures was, I believe, added in the FW update and you should no longer see that option. Anyway - good summary of things people should know. It does have its limitations but usually these relate to the laws of physics, which even the might DJI can't overcome!

@Peter Nicholls, well said. Have you used the Instamic new Pro Plus. If not, it’s a self contained, tiny audio pack that pairs up well with the A2. It has 32bit float audio, can synch timecodes with Track E, controlled through app, and also has mounting options to put in places others cannot because of it’s size and weight. Downside is no 3.5mm input/output jack, still using USB micro (startup so saving cost to not redo power module design), and need to synch in post. I use FCP so it’s a simple add audio and video into new project and press synch. But it’s an extra step. If you can live with these 3 cons, it’s waterproof up to 1m and for 30min so you can get great audio while outdoor in extreme sports to vlog or share audio without worrying about it.

@@nomad0714 I've seen it before but not really looked into it closely - it certainly gives an ache in the wallet... which of course is somewhat depleted after purchase of the Action 2! Current favourite option with that would be to use my Zoom F1 as an interface, with Roland in-ear binaural mics.
@ChrisSpice3 жыл бұрын
Oh hey, I did actually watch your vid on the audio technical thing before editing this. I think my point was that there’s a lot of mics this doesn’t work with. Strange that it doesn’t work with the USC to 3.5 adapter that DJI sell for the Pocket. In terms of charging, that’s what I said in the vid :) I am actually in the UK! I got the camera and immediately did a firmware update and still have access to the auto power off temp. I shall have another look and see if there’s another update. Thanks for watching, I’m going to check out your vids before my review 😊
@Ozpeter3 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisSpice I think perhaps my opening comment was a bit cheeky... thanks for your gracious response! It won't work with the audio adapter from the Pocket, because at that time they were using a proprietary audio interface for some reason. Same goes for the adapter from the Action 1. Now they have thankfully switched to standard audio interfaces so anything that works with an Android phone (or PC it seems) should work with this. The high temperature option depends on where you are and that apparently is determined by the phone app. I suspect if you use the Mimo app you will lose the high temperature option - until you visit Australia and then it will reappear.
@BassManStrikes3 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisSpice The adapters for the Pocket and Osmo Action are proprietary they only work with those cameras. You can use standard android adapters and they work fine.

Did it overheat in 4k 100fps?
@mensoamrojewel3326 Жыл бұрын
I bought it week ago, still these days it overheat on 4K 60fps (my DJI Action 2 was made in 2021/10 batch). Although here's wether temperature is around average 30°C it gets overheat within 7-8 min without proper airflow even high temperature mode enabled (I didn't tried when riding so can't tell how long it'll record with 60fps before overheat force stoped). That's why I'm using only 4K 30 fps which is enough for me. But short type video can be shot in 4K with higher fps. So, in conclusion "yes" it overheat in 4K 100/120fps if you're not shooting on snowfield or cold region. Hope this help, because there's not much answers on internet about DJI A2, I'm saying from my experience.

Thanks Chris this is very helpful. I love the design of the Action 2 but the actual video is not very good - every review ive watched it looks contasty and has that action camera look. The video that highlighted that was fstoppers comparison with iphone 13 video. The iphone looked substantially better.
@ChrisSpice3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it has a very baked in contrasty look to it. There’s d-Cinelike flat profile if you don’t like that though, although that’s never been a perfect option for grading.

It's hard to believe that you haven't had that problem with overheating, have you not recorded anything over a few minutes of footage? Because even using it as a dash-cam while driving in a car on a cold day causes it to overheat after 20-30 minutes. I can't imagine on a sunny day, this thing won't last not even 10 minutes. Such a shame I really really want this Action 2, it's otherwise amazing and fits my needs but damn.

it isn't possible to use the high temperture option in all countries. I am based in London UK when I activated my one and this option is disabled Moreover, I noticed there are not front camera options. When vlogging for more that 8 minutes, the front screen will switch off. Not sure why. Lastly, the loggest I had the camera running continuously was over 90 mins at 4k 30 inside my fridge set up at 7c. Just thought I would mentioned that as I've not seen any battery test. Plus I haven't seen how this camera can detect temperture

session 5 is still far better that has better battery life and SD card built in. I purchased this hoping to replace session 5 for my surfing POV but fully disappointed with such a low battery life and really easy to mis-use. Action 2 is somehow suddenly becomes photo mode from video mode when you frequently start and stop recording. The lock screen to avoid unintended control is not well thought out that it easly unlock and puts you in stupid complicated mode selection. This is the camera designed by Chinese nerd who never engage in action sports. The name "action 2" is simply misleading where the camera is totally not suitable for action sports recording.
